Hi all.

Well, it is below 30 these days and my truck is back to sounding like sh-t. Every winter, I have an issue with squeaky belts.

I can do the old mech trick and rub a bar of soap on the edge of the belt and noise stops completely.

Any suggestions other than new belts? The belts are around 35k miles old and tension is within tolerance.

Howdy! Try using a bar of lava instead of regular soap. The pumice will help clean up both the belts and the pullleys. Otherwise, it may be just cheap/old/wornout belts, eventhough they only have 35M on them. John
 
Sandpaper the pulleys? My belts got pretty shabby looking so i replaced them with new Gates and the alt belt squeked constantly so I took it off and hit it with some sandpaper because thats what my father recomended. Worked like a charm.
 
Does it squeak when you first start it up or when you drive it down the road?

Squeaks at idle. Nothing when I am driving.

The idler pulley is fine. I have removed it and checked. And I dont think it is a bearing because of the soap fix i.e. I change the belt's makeup not anything else i.e. spraying this or that at the pulley.

Today, it has warmed up to 44 and the belt squeal/squeak is all but gone.
