My search is over. I have been looking for a clean affordable first gen shortbox 4x4 or trekker to build as a daily driver.

They all seem to have rusty frames or hidden crash damage or evidence of a replaced core support etc.

Or they are left over wheelers. What the fawk is wrong with people? It seems like the popular thing to do is take a first gen truck and smash it as bad as you can. This is what second gens are for, cheap, ugly and plentiful. Trash all the 84 up trucks you want, but for fuucks sake, leave the damn first gens alone.

So I found one that is going to get a second (or 5th for all I know?) chance at the clean life.

Best part is I traded a blowed up 1986 extracab with an auto tranny for it. Now thats an upgrade.

Buttrocker stereo system.

Whatever else I can think of to help make pimping easy.

Im not talking about a 4runner. I have those laying around.

Im talking about 79-82 truck (83 has ugly square headlights).

Nice score on the runner. I have a silver one just like, but its smashed up into a little wad of tin.

Dude I am way cheap. New bumpers are out of the question. Its an old truck, its getting old bumpers.

I already have the nerfs. They are the solid round ones with no cut out for a step on top of them.

Just need the bumpers and rollbar.

I cant seem to find my camera either.

hope you find some in good shape !! .. everyone I have ever seen these days are all rusted ... "smitty" never did anything for inside protection , so they all rust from the inside out .. I have looked for years for some good ones , but never found 1 in my area .

I wish you the best , as I'm a first gen lover !! .. I have built quite a few of them and each , still has a special place in my heart .
