Chinese Fuel Pump (1 Viewer)

A couple of years ago I bought a cheap Amazon chinese fuel pump to rule out the fuel pump as a problem. It wasn't the problem, then, after about six months it failed. I put the OEM one back in and all is well. Today, I was cleaning out my junk box (as if have only one) and came across the bad pump. I thought I'd tear into it because I wasn't sure what the inside looked like. I would've guessed that the failure was the diaphragm or springs that failed but, the failure was actually much simpler. They apparently used cheap metal to build the rod, it deformed, and slipped out of the fork.

I thought it was kind of interesting if not pertinent to anything in particular. LOL

Nice to see where those piece of crap pumps fail. There's numerous posts here of premature China pump failures. Thanks for doing the autopsy.

Mine said it was Kyosan on the website and showed up in a Kyosan box but the pump itself didn't have the Kyosan logo on it.

Mine seemed to look high quality.

15,000 miles since install without an issue.

You can see the embossed logo on the Toyota fuel pump's aluminum frame: Kyosan.
Kyosan makes them for Toyota.

Pretty. I do remember that casting mark on the side of mine now.
