I learned the hard way! $121.00!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the new hose The old one was so hard it cracked as I lifted the lid. Its worth the extra effort to rmove the 1st hose clamp.

U paid a tad too much there......:whoops:

I know the dealer screwd me. What else could I have done?

gscherer, the man you are talking to cruiserdan "parts shaman" is a Toyota parts guru.
If you need anything PM him for great prices

btw, keep your old intake if it is repairable. Mine had a split in the usual place but repaired w/ rtv & tape (worked great until I got a new one from c dan).

If in the future the new one cracks or whatever, my backup is there.

I have an easy solution, buy another cruiser... easy parts source... I just have to drive the truck for a few days till the parts show up......

I've talked with Dan after the purchase from my "stealership" and found his prices are great! Next time. I chucked the old hose it was hard as a rock being over the manifold for 13 years is not good for rubber.

Thanx

I have been using Wicks Air (special order) & Oil (51515 IIRC) filters. After I'm done with my existing supply I'll probably switch over to using Dan's OEM sourced ones. Whatever you do, don't buy the cheap ones at the parts store and don't let iffy lube or the like give you a standard filter. Its cheap engine insurance to get decent ones IMHO.

will cracked air intake hose cause the engine to run rich and create more smoke or condensation out the exhaust? I just cracked mine after changing the spark plugs out.

should make it run lean but either way wrap it up good with tape for now and order a new one from Dan,

but not until he gets mine on its way, mine developed a crack in it also, just ordered one

I am trying to remove air cleaner cap, and hose with my supercharger installed. Does anyone has pictures and tips? Thanks.

Hi folks...

I should have read this forum before changing the air filter...but I cracked my air intake duct while trying to change the air filter. (I'm assuming the large duct about 4 inches in diameter that runs from the air filter canister over to the engine valve area is called the air intake duct).

How much is this part and what number do I call to get this part delivered? I fee pretty dumb cracking the hose but it lead me to this forum so I'm not terribly upset.

I own a 95 TLC which I bought new and still lovin it. I live in Palos Verdes which is in souther california and began doing some work on the rig on my own as a hobby....I'm sure I'll have lots more questions.

By the way, after I cracked the air intake duct, I noticed that my I don't get any heat in my car (the fan works but no heat). Is this coincidence or are they related.....

Would welcom your guidance.....

Regards

time for me to join the cracked air intake club

:D

funny thing...I just had my plugs, wires, dist/rotor replaced by one of my Toyota dealerships...and they informed me that my air intake had a crack in it...and that they could replace it, but would need to order a new one from Lexus...

yeah...whatever...

I'll be giving CDan a call...and order 2...one for mine and a spare for when I eventually find a crack in the :princess:'s rig.

order one from Lexus...come on now...

we told you you should do it yourself...! :)

I just found out today mine has a nice sized crack in it. I'll need a new one before I go to LA. Damnit.

I'm not one to skimp out on repairs, but duct tape it if you don't want to repair it right now. As long as the crack is sealed, what is the difference?

Flame away, 80s tech guys.
