Wow this was a significant upgrade. Thank you @James Lapp for this suggestion. I found a buddy to split the pair with me, so $45 total and it sounds great. Highs and mids sound louder and cleaner 👍

@Luke M I did not see you post before installing mine, otherwise I would have snapped a pic. If you pry the center mesh grill upwards and off, you'll see the factory center speaker mounted with two 10mm bolts. Simply remove, unplug harness and mount the new speaker.

I thought it made a big difference as well. Still looking to replace the dash right and left once I find the right speakers. I have tried a few options but still looking.

FYI. Most Toyota JBL system speakers are 2 ohm. The above aftermarket JBL speaker is 3 ohm. So power output will decrease and speaker is quieter. It will work for sure but may not be optimal?

And FYI, you can see big difference in magnet size...the aftermarket uses Ferrite magnets while Toyota JBL uses Neodymium magnets which are far more efficient than Ferrite.

Can you suggest a better alternative? A 2 ohm speaker with smaller magnets that will fit the center location as well as the JBL?

Inquiring minds need to know.

TIA

Yes factory speakers. 😊

IMO, changing one speaker in a DSP-tuned system is probably not ideal.

I used the same JBL 4" speakers right and left. Took some jamming and clipping in there and wasn't a perfect fit but the grills close.s

2 vs 3 ohm may not matter that much. It really depends. Speaker ratings are just a number but speakers actually have a huge range of resistance values across their frequency range. An 8ohm speaker might be 5 ohms at 120-2000hz but could jump to 10ohm down near 60Hz and 50ohms above 10khz.

Replying to myself since I was totally unaware of this until maybe 2-3 years ago, this was a chart that Klipsch sent me about their 8 ohm speakers. It matters, but the ratings are more about guaranteeing stability for the receiver at a specification than an actual number they maintain.

What is your spec source that claims the Toyota OE speaker is using a Neodymium magnet? But it is true that the Stage 3's are a budget entry level speaker. Is their a Club edition that fits in the space?
