Nice write up. But when we were talking the other night I thought you said you put a fan in there for cooling the radio? Did I miss that in the write up?

Eric that just looks...awesome! I think i just may have to finally do this but minus the 2m, for now. What is the point of the relays? I can do wiring but relays are not 100% for me yet.

Which smittybilt console did you get? The link goes to a product search for vehicle specific which it is not.

Yea, the fan is there, and I mentioned it in the writeup, but forgot to take a picture of it. It's a 12V 40mm CPU fan mounted in the side of the console near the bottom. It's wired to a switch on the front of the console.

The relays do two things for you. First, manually switching high amp loads is a little dodgy - the switches tend to be large and expensive and you have to run big wires to inconvenient places. So you switch a smaller current (smaller wire) and let that activate a relay for the big load.

In this case the main power feed comes straight from the battery. I want this to turn on and off with the truck accessory power, otherwise you'd have a dead battery quickly if you left something on. So I found a wire under there that switches with accessory power and use it to control the relays on the main feed.

For reference, the radio can pull up to 25A, the inverter another 20A and 12V outlets are typically 15A each. So the 60A fuse on the main line is a little small. But I don't ever expect to be drawing max power from everything at once.

As far as I can tell there's only one. But you have to go through their vehicle selection bit to see it. Just pick a year and it will show you some jeeps, pick through that and you'll see it.

Edit - looks like there are now two models. There's one with a stereo compartment now. I think that must be new, as I definitely would have considered that for the radio.

Here are some better links.
The one I got: http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/24.htm
The one with the stereo compartment: http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/107.htm

The stereo compartment one is 5 inches longer, so it wouldn't work for me anyway. But could be an option if you never tumble your 2nd row seats.
