This run is gravel travel and family friendly to the base camp at Churn Creek. Above Churn Creek will be considerably more difficult due to snow. Be prepared for any kind of weather and dress accordingly. It may be cold at night.
JULY 1 falls on a Tuesday this year. We decided to go to Roche Lake. Those indicating that they expect to go are: Gary T, Garry B, Mike McT, Bill, Sopel, and Jeff, so far. We will finalize details at the next meeting. ;p
CRUISER DAYS, JULY 19, Deas Island Park. Marcin has a contact who will serve hot dogs, etc., and has a Food Wagon and Food Safe permit. Rob Millson will arrange for T-shirts, Marcin will bring bottled water. Everybody should have posters by now and distributing them to as many business outlets as possible. Aaron will arrange radio ads. Mike will post ad on Craig’s List. Bill is getting a club banner and buying raffle prizes. Steve T is looking into a winch as the grand prize. Rob Millson is looking for a set of driving lights as a prize for Best in Show. At the June meeting we will finalize help for parking monitors and garbage detail. ?Who is contacting Vendors??
COASTAL CRUISER WEBSITE is up and running, although the domain name is being transfered from our picture site. Marcin is the webmaster and you should email stuff to him to be entered into the club website. Enter your Toyota only rig and picture. Who has a good picture of Millson? ;p
CLUB POLICIES – In the future, new members must own a Toyota 4x4 vehicle. Those who want to join us must attend at least 2 meetings and we will then vote for acceptance into the club. Everyone is expected to join the TLCA, after all, we are a chapter of the TLCA. You can join the TLCA online, or if you don’t want to do that, just give the info and money to Bill and he will do it for you. Those who do not join the TLCA will not be eligible to vote in a quorum. Members are also encouraged to join the 4x4ABC to show our support for their efforts to clean up the trails and to negotiate with regional governments and the B.C. provincial government. Did you know that there is a new Forest Act introduced that will privatize forest roads in B.C. and we could conceivably be shut out of them?
OTHER BUSINESS – Jan H. knows someone who does powder coating.
RAFFLE – Thanks to Aaron for donating the DVD movies.
Raffle winners were: Rod swung the shovel, Jan the seat, Paul the cast iron frying pan, Kim the cooler with built-in Ipod speakers, Gary T the Axe and vacuum cleaner, Ed the floating lantern, Bill the Coleman stove, and Steve T the DVD movie.
The meeting adjourned by 10:00 because Rob M was getting quite grouchy and we wanted to avoid a hissy-fit there. Also, Mike McT didn’t win a prize and had to get up at 5:00 a.m., so he was getting somewhat antsy! I guess that just shows ta go ya that working for a living, besides being ridiculously inconvenient, is also the pits because it takes up way too much time and energy.
