Bman - can't tell from website if what Clay's offer's is Belden or not. They spell it Beldon, so I wonder if it's a knockoff?

Clay's website? Got a link?

Check www.wilsonantennas.com it'll forwrd ya to premier-electronics site. They sell belden cable under the coax link. It's not listed as 9913 but rg8-x wich should be mini 8 (more flexible and better coax than regular rg-58) and an 18 footer is only $12.95 plus the ride. The only real problem with 9913 is that it's a little rigid which prolly ain't great in your case where you'll want to move the antenna in and out alot. Now that I think about it your best bet will probably be the 8x since it's more flexible and still a better quality than rg-58.

lol, open the box Brent! Mybe the cable is there.

Ok - you get the last laugh! :flipoff2:

Looked at the box the Wilson 5000 mag came in and figured that the base had to take up the entire bottom of the box it came in. :whoops: there was cable attached to the antenna that Bman recommends.

All I want to do is put a connector somewhere in that cable so I can disconnect it near the back of the truck when I remove the antenna. Right now, the cable is just one run with a connector for the radio. I'd like to leave the cable from the radio to the back of the truck buried under the carpet and in the side panels. Will probably splice in connectors to allow for the cable to end where the bottle jack is.

Opened the Uniden Pro520XL last night as well. For those of you that put it in your ash tray location, looks to me that you'd have to trim out about an inch or more width wise to get it to fit. I was under the impression from pics that there was just a little trimming inside the opening. NOT! I'll probably mount it under the dash at the center console.

Brent:
Get yourself a couple of pl259's and a coupler. run your coax to the rear panel and attach it to the coupler mounted in the inner panel. Then sorten up the cable from the antenna and solder on a new pl259 that you can screw onto the coupler whenever you need to use it.

Yep - that's the plan.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

My experience: glass breaks and works fine till then. Annoying.
Mag mount is fine if you don't wheel the woods.
Center loaded stainless steel on a flex spring is what I am now running and I find it superior in usability, and just fine on reach. When not in use, I remove it via the bayonet mount.

I use the mag only for my hand-held when used as a vehicle CB.
