CB amperage

Just looking for a ballpark figure. How much amperage can I expect a standard sized CB to pull when it's properly tuned? I'd like to have a master kill switch for it so it won't create a parasitic power drain by being connected directly to the battery, and a switch I found is rated to 21A at 14V. Think this will be sufficient or should I use a relay?

Hey Dan,
RTFM! Just looked up the specs on my Uniden 520 and it says I'm pulling 1.7 amps whether I'm transmitting or receiving. I doubt your pulling more than 5 so you should be golden wiring to a switch. Remember that you want to direct wire to the battery to help cut back on noise.

I couldn't find the damn thing!

Monday works from 1430 to 1800 and then I'm free all day Tuesday after noon. Gotta teach to pay the bills in the mornings. BTW I looked up the manual online since I have no clue which dump mine ended up in.
