well, I'm lifting a truck in about 4 weeks and will be using my plates. I'll bolt on some 35" tires with the springs out and lift the axle to the factory bumpstops and see what happens. Not to prove anyone right or wrong but it would be good info for those who want more than 35s as I've yet to come anywhere close to rubbing on my front with them.

Yes if you want 35's to fit with flares on....and I'm sure it helps with wider, more offset wheels and wider tires.

Err, I think you mean 36+ here.

35's fit just fine with flares.

I'm curious how many of you that run Landtank or Slee's plates had to go with a front DC driveshaft? I plan on a set of J's on the front with an ARB and M12000. I'm going with Slee's blue bushings primarily because I do not want the extra $$ of a DC shaft. We will see if that is enough I guess.

Sorry for the hi-jack.

My front end is pretty flexy and I have no problem with brand new 315 BFG KM2's.

After reviewing the options of bushings, plates, arms, drop mounts, etc...I chose Rick's plates as the sensible solution...for me. I didn't even bother putting it on the rack to do a castor sweep when I was finished, because the test drive said it all.

The extra expense of a DC shaft was a small price to pay for having safe and reliable handling from a lifted truck.

I have ome 850 heavy springs up front and 860s in the rear. I have an arb winch bumper with a warn m12000 winch. I recently installed the ome caster bushings with the land tank template and got the caster checked. it is at 1.6 now with the yellow bushings. I know everyone shoots for the 3 degree mark. Will the slee blue bushings put me there or do I need something else?

Thanks,

Gary
Uh oh, is there something I should know here? I just bought a Man-a-Fre Level Stance Kit for my '95. It came with (IIRC) 850's for the front, 862's for the rear and yellow CC bushings......do I need something OTHER than the yellow bushings? I just assumed they were the correct ones, since they came in the kit........anyone have some advice for me on this?

check the spring numbers to be sure what you bought. But likely the OME bushings won't be enough especially if you don't have any extra weight.
Landtank, I definitely got OME 850's for the front and 862's for the rear. That's what came in the Level Stance kit. I plan on installing an ARB Bull Bar and some sort of winch, so based on your recommendations, I will be ordering/installing a set of Slee's blue 3* bushings........does this sound like the correct overall plan? Also, where can I get one of your templates? Thanks.

Well Landtank, I think I may be buying your plates before too long... I now have a kid on the way and I can't justify driving my 80 the way that it is now! Actually, I took it wheeling last weekend and it may be down for a while. There is a lot of stuff I need to fix! I guess that's the price I pay for 4 years of beating the wizz out of my 80 and not giving it any love in return...

You need to get a second set for Red Sox Cruiser and have at it.

Congrats on the kid. Now that my son is fifteen I'm in cruiser heaven and having a blast.

Update. With the yellow I was 1.6 on the driver and 1.0 on the passenger. with the blues I am 2.3 on the driver and 1.8 on the passenger. The drivers side sits 3/4 of and inch lower than the passenger, I assume this is what is causing the difference. I double checked the springs last night and the spring labeled B is on the driver side. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gary

You have a solid front axle so the difference in height isn't going to change caster side to side. having that difference is normal and how Toyota set up the axles. As far as the A B thing, I just installed the taller springs on the driver side both front and rear.

With stock bumpstops and 35" tires I have rubbed the paint off of just one of the bolts that holds on the inner fender.

BTW your plates work great!

Agreed. Any idea why the caster readings are different for each side or is this normal also?

In the quote you posted he said that having the difference was normal and that it was how yota setup the axles.

I think that if you were to look at a right hand drive model the specs would be as different but with the sides reversed.

That is what I thought he meant, but was not sure if he meant caster or ride height.

Thanks,

Gary:cheers:
