When you filed a claim against your insurance policy, Glenn, how much did your premium go up?
We have experienced a house break in when we lived in Vancouver and my car has been broken into a couple of time. We had a van stolen once as well.
I did catch a guy who was in my car stealing change, cd's and so forth. I ran up to the drivers door, locked it as the window was open, then told the guy to empty his pockets and strip and hand each thing out the window. I took what was mine, chucked his stuff in the middle of the road and assured him if I ever saw him again, he would regret it.
I'm very sorry to hear of your experiences with these leaches who cause nothing but huge expenses for our society. And I agree, legalize drugs, register addicts and give them their fixes for free.
My insurance went up $200, but it did not go up that much - here is the deal - I have been with this one insurance broker for 14 years and they can apply a "discretionary discount" to keep my account or discourage me for shopping around. But if I lost my 5-year discount I still may face increases in the following 4-years to put me back where I was.
Now my wife says her car window does not go all the way up (must have forced the window down - its a convertible)- so we now have an ICBC claim and a $300 deductible to face.
The bottom line is the Homeowner pays for these losses -- so my small payback for scumbags that rob me is that they ...
