When you filed a claim against your insurance policy, Glenn, how much did your premium go up?

We have experienced a house break in when we lived in Vancouver and my car has been broken into a couple of time. We had a van stolen once as well.

I did catch a guy who was in my car stealing change, cd's and so forth. I ran up to the drivers door, locked it as the window was open, then told the guy to empty his pockets and strip and hand each thing out the window. I took what was mine, chucked his stuff in the middle of the road and assured him if I ever saw him again, he would regret it.

I'm very sorry to hear of your experiences with these leaches who cause nothing but huge expenses for our society. And I agree, legalize drugs, register addicts and give them their fixes for free.

My insurance went up $200, but it did not go up that much - here is the deal - I have been with this one insurance broker for 14 years and they can apply a "discretionary discount" to keep my account or discourage me for shopping around. But if I lost my 5-year discount I still may face increases in the following 4-years to put me back where I was.
Now my wife says her car window does not go all the way up (must have forced the window down - its a convertible)- so we now have an ICBC claim and a $300 deductible to face.

The bottom line is the Homeowner pays for these losses -- so my small payback for scumbags that rob me is that they ...

Good on ya. I once went to CES in Vegas and they were demoing different types of personal stunguns, anyone know the legalities of owning one here for "personal defence"?

I feel your pain glen.good to hear that scumbag got nail.i too got broke in years back into my house garage & lost almost$3500 .we are very upset for it never happen in the pass 10years. I guess one never know till iy happen.I wish our juridical system better revised .

there is two kids off the top of my head in town that are constantly up to no good. They are in and out of jail, on probation and they are out still breaking into houses and cars. Caught multiple times. Its brutal because they do the exact same thing after a stint in jail.

My girlfriend's mom's car got rifled through last night. Two days before a buddy up the street.
I really should stay up one of these nights and have a wait in the dark to help combat my insomnia.

Freeze the paintballs first, or get a twelve gauge flare gun, you tripped while trying to signal for help. White phosphorus is wonderful stuff, it burns for a long time, especially on skin. Let pathfinder prove it was not accidental. LOL

Growing up in a small town, there were always a couple that were up to no good. But they also knew that if anyone found out it was them, the least of their worries would be the police or a judge. Now the town has gotten to big and the law doesn't turn its head the other way when 'justice' is handed out. While that frontier justice can be a tad bit dangerous, especially when the wrong person is implicated, there has got to be a lot better than what we call a 'justice' system now.

Personally, I think forced work should be imposed on all convicted criminals - regardless of their age. Make them pay back to their victims and society ;and at the same time, they would be more likely to learn a trade and a work ethic. Those who don't want to comply with the work program should have their time extended in prison until they do comply. Now that would be justice and reform in a nice package.

Update – they let the scumbag out…?.
Crown Counsel said the police had insufficient evidence to connect the scumbag to my attempted robbery – I said the guy was 5’11’ absolutely stunk of tobacco, and was not very strong - the guy they picked up was 6’3”, absolutely stunk of tobacco and frail with a goatee – I missed the goatee – Crown Council said let him go. They are now doing a DNA match --so there is hope they can positively connect him to the scene.
Bottom line -- it’s a not a slam dunk for Crown Council they don’t want the bother. Next time I will mark with him with industrial inverted Marking Paint - Fluorescent Green on his back -

same with the two young guys in and out of juvie here. They don't ever catch them at the scene they just catch them when they violate their probation by not being inside at a specific hour. Countless times.
Nothing happens...

We had a problem bear in camp a few years back, at least we were pretty sure it was the same bear. To be sure I hung a can of fluorescent green spray paint from a tree and covered it in honey and steak juice. Over the next week we saw the green faced bear over and over. "Greenie" was dealt with shortly after.

Wonder how this technique could be applied to your situation? Hmmm.

How about some of these ideas ;-)

And I heard about some guy in an RV who used to have his diesel stolen all the time. Well, one day, he got fed up and changed the labels around on his RIG. He switched the "DIESEL" with the "SEWAGE" or grey water tank. He came out one morning to find a hose out of the one marked DIESEL, a jerrycan full of s***-n-piss and some vomit on the ground.

Maybe an internet legend, but it sure sounds like payback to me. :D

Update to Damage

The scumbag that jimmied the window down, screwed up the electronics on the hardtop convertible mechanism tied into the door and window mechanism - our cost $200 deductible - repair bill paid by all ICBC ratepayers = $2,346.88.

It would be cheaper to give them all the dope they can ingest and get them into the Darwin Award queue ASAP.
