I have a carb 22r and a chance to get a cheap fuel injection system off another 22r. What all would be involved in the swap, particularly wiring, throttle cables etc and would the benefits be worth the work?

Thanks

If you want EFI, sell your truck and buy an EFI truck... It's been done, but it's a lot of work. You'll need all the fuel lines including the gas tank/pump. You'll need to be good with wiring, and have lots and lots of patience....

Thanks for the info. I thought it might be a tough job. I did look at the propane link Curse put up and saw you need a distributor and ignitor specifically for the carb model.

I did not know there was a difference in the dist. and ignitor between the carb and EFI models. Can anyone confirm there is a difference??

Thanks

It is a lot of work, I've done it once, and wouldn't do it again. If you are willing to weed through that many wires, do a swap to a larger engine. Trust me on this. If you understand the toyota fuel injection system and you are good with an electrical schematic go for it.

The $700.00 kit should come with everything you need afaik.

I plan on doing this soon to my '86 carb'd

If you can find EFI 22RE you should be able to just take all of the EFI components off of it and just mount on your block. All of the 22R and 22REs have the same evrything. They have been the same since they came out.
