Hey everyone, working on rebuilding Flo's carb and getting stuck with this accelerator pump check ball retainer clip. While attempting to remove this "clip" with forceps a piece broke off and the check ball fell out. I'm sure there's more left to dig out but I'm worried about chewing up the seat of this passage. I'm unable to find a picture online of what this clip even looks like (item 34 in carb schematic). Been watching @pinhead's videos on youtube but unfortunately this particular piece is blurry, so I can't tell what I've got.
See pics below. What am I fishing for here? Is the retainer clip at point 1 or 2 on my photo? TIA.
The check ball retainer spring clip (when new) is a small piece of spring steel bent in a circle with a bit larger circumference than the bore in the carb, with one end of the clip longer that's bent at a sharp angle to cross the mid section of the curve — if that makes sense.
Anything that can be wedged in there with spring tension to hold the ball down against the spring will work

It looks like the inner central part broke off (remnant shown in your hand) and the outer part is still tensioned on the carb bore.
Here's another better picture of it. This is old & rusty & kind of bent but it gives you an idea what it looks like.

The purpose of the retainer clip is to hold the ball that's under pressure from the spring below.
You've got to get a new accelerator pump check ball regardless, and when you do, you'll be able to see if it drops down into its bore or gets hung up on a possible retainer clip remnant still expanded in the bore.
Thanks for your help @OSS! So if the ball seats properly, and I'm unable to remove any remants, I can just insert a new clip essentially over the old remants?
