I have a '79 desmogged Pig with what seems to be a stuck float (gas flooding out of bowl vents and completely full sight glass). What is my best option here? I tried percussive maintenance (tapped it with a rubber mallet) with no luck. Should I get a pre-smog carb to reduce all of the vacuum tubes (would that even fit?), rebuild the current carb, get a new float, or just try to mess w/ the old float first? I have rebuilt carbs before, but none with so many frickin' doodads coming off of it!
    Thanks in advance,
    Chuck

Answer depends on whether you just want to fix your problem, or if you want a good carb. I personally don't like the 79-80 model. It can be improved, but only to a point.

Older, newer, and non-US are all better options IMO.

    All still available as rebuilts:
