I know a lot of the CLC crew has a bunch of different setups. I have been looking to add a powered sub to my truck just to add a little low end.

I have seen a few in your rigs but I can't remember what people are running.

So post up the good..bad...and ugly.

I need some input not read reviews of 16 yr old wanting to shake windows.

Got a Blaupunkt 8" powered sub in the 450 and it's ok. The powered 8" pioneer in my 40 is a bad ass little unit! Never been super impressed with the infinity bass link. I think Lash has one under the seat of his 40. MTX makes good stuff so might lean toward that. My blaupunkt provides only a little bump but you can tell when it's not on.

You gotta have the boom!

I can't recommend the bass link in a 40. Too much power for just a receiver with 52 watts X 4. It takes up all the valuable space under the drivers seat. It has not worked for a couple of years. It will be removed in favor of a Montero Sport suspension seat frame some day. I prefer the tighter bass of an 8" driver to a 10". Jeff's and Chris's sound great.

What pioneer model are you running in the 40?

Don't think they make it anymore. It's probably 12 years old. I'd have to look at the pioneer subs available now to get one close.

What vehicle is this going in? What about the MTX on Onlinecarstereo.com? I bet that sounds good. I have never been impressed with any of the Bazooka subs although some like them.

I like that set up. I guess you have an aftermarket head unit? That set up should be matched up pretty good (amp-sub). So many times people think they need 1000 watt subs because they say 1000 WATTS! Doesn't make them sound any better. In fact they sound worse in some cases when you don't match amp power to sub power rating. You probably know all of this already but it just bugs me to hear people talk about how they have 1000 watt speakers (that usually sound like crap). Good luck and I can't wait to hear it.

Yes I agree with you. I have a Pioneer head unit with a sub output so I should have some control over it. The other 4 speakers are just running off the head unit. I just want a little low end and the down firing gives me a little protection from dogs or other crap punching a hole in it.

I had 2 JLAudio dual voice coil 8" subs down firing in the back of my 62. IMO sealed boxes and down firing is the way to go if you want loud and tight base.

If and when I do another setup in a 40 or other part time use vehicle I'm going to look into an amp that I can plug an Ipod in without a receiver.

That is the setup I am working on. Will post up when I come up with something.

Might want to look at what the ATV guys are doing. 6" PVC pipe and waterproof amp makes a prety fair system for an open 40

I had one. Traded it to my cousin. It was loud. Sounded good.

Build some boxes that will fit right behind the seats in that recessed area
