After going thru the threads on NATO vs Wedco vs Scepter cans, I'm still in a bind to find some good quality cans. I need one for diesel and one for water. I'm trying to find a Canadian distributor for the Wedco cans, any one have anything? Or recommend any other cans I can get here? I just got hosed for $40 in duties and "brokerage fees" for $25 of BMW parts, I'm tired of the guessing game when I order products from the U.S....

Sorry should have been more specific...I'm after the metal ones...the wedco style, or even a wedco, if anyone sells them here?

any leaks with the scepters?

I have steel NATO cans myself. However, I do carry a Scepter military water can and a friend of mine carries Scepter military fuel cans. They're top quality and they don't leak. With the right nozzle, you can empty five gallons out of one in about a minute.

Buy yourself a water can and decide whether you want them for fuel after you've used the water can for a while. They're good cans.

I really like the scepter tanks. No leaks....

In my search for the scepter tanks I found a place in Edmonton that had the red metal wedco tanks. I cannot remember their name or what their price was.....

PM me if you are interested and I will do a drive by and get their info.

Have a search on some of the other posts on this topic in chat. IMHO, (I have both) the Scepter military products are superior to the metal (I bought new) NATO cans. While they are made here, the just started with a local distributor for the mil-spec containers (don't buy the other ones) - the distributor link is posted above. I've had a few hiccups dealing with them so far, but no big problems (I'm trying to buy the water containers from them). I'd love to just buy direct from the factory. I have 4 of the fuel containers that I got surplus.

As I've noted in a different post, why wouldn't you use these given that many large military forces ditched metal cans years ago (eg the US armed forces). I figure they must know more about the topic than I do. Based on my real world experience, I'm happier with the Scepter cans.

Cheers, Hugh

Ah, but remember, with NAFTA you do not pay duty on any product made in Canada or the US, even if you bought it in the US and it is made in Canada.

The BMW parts will cost ya, because they weren't made in North America.

If you order the cans (either Wedco or Scepter) and get charged duty, you can actually get it back because the products were made in Canada.

Taken from the Canada Border Services Agency website below:

"How goods qualify under NAFTA

Your goods qualify for the United States duty-free rate under NAFTA if they are:

* for personal use; and
* marked as made in the United States or Canada; or
* not marked or labeled to indicate that they were made anywhere other than in the United States or Canada.

If you would like more information on goods eligible under NAFTA, visit the CBSA Web site at www.cbsa.gc.ca and refer to Memorandum D11-4-13, Rules of Origin for Casual Goods Regulations, under "Publications and forms," or you can call BIS at one of the numbers in the section called "Additional Information."

Try Dave's Tactical supply in New Westminster , they are a scepter dealer.
