Can take out key when not in park!

Hi,

Our 2004 LC100 4.2 diesel has an issue that you can take the key out when stopped and not in park. As in while stopped but still in drive.

I checked and this cruiser does not have the key interlock solenoid.

Any ideas how to fix this or is this just the way this is with this cruiser?!

search "ignition rod", might be the cause

Ignition rod just impacts turning the key. Is it just that the key and lock are severely worn down? That was the case for my '78 Hilux.
