Can Someone Tell Me What This Is?

Just completed front crank seal and oil pump o ring. My goal is to chase leaks from front to back seems like i need to address power steering pump leak now but also on the front of the engine there is a large hex bolt that seems to be leaking as well? What is this for and what do you guys do to stop it from leaking?

I believe its a cap for an oil galley

That’s the galley for the oil pick up tube. Clean it really well and monitor not a common leak area. It uses a crush washer and should never leak unless it’s been messed with. Leaks from above leak down onto that area and it is easily mistaken for a leaking area. Take a can of brake clean to it.

Gotcha, so if its been messed with, would pulling it and replacing the crush washer might be a food idea. That is if i clean it all up and find it is indeed coming from it vs somewhere above?

Ditto: wash that area off, watch it closely to see where the leak starts from. More likely it's coming from above, even the oil pump cover
if the O-ring you just replaced got pinched/out of position.

Is it Engine oil, ATF/PS fluid, Coolant??
