Currently doing the "while you're in there" side quest of doing my valve cover gasket during my cooling system overhaul. I'm concerned about my camshaft health, but not educated enough yet on what im looking at. Specifically I'm worried about what looks like chunks missing from the camshaft and some wear on the tips of the lobes. Let me know how cooked I am!

I don't see any significant missing chunks to worry about, that's how it was milled at the factory. I'm guessing your mileage is around 200 miles? The cams need valve clearances checked and adjusted if they are not within spec. The condition of the camshaft bearing journal is more important, but you can't see it until the camshaft is installed.

The only thing that matters on your cams is the lobes, and journals. Any of the unfinished areas are just casting marks and do not matter. If you don’t have a Toyota FSM then download one from the resources section and check you valve lash/clearances with a feeler gauge set.
