I am usually in the 80 section, as I am a proud owner.

But now I am considering a second gen 4Runner (92).

In the 80 FAQ, we have the following link:
80 Series Land Cruiser - Front Bumper

Does such a thing exist for 90-95s?
I searched here, and looked at Pirate and Yotatech, found nothing.

Can anyone help?

I know the link says bumper, but it is a buyers inspection guide.

22re's are just as bad on head gaskets... :)

Nope, they are certainly not...

Yes the V6 has head gasket issues, but it's really an exhaust route issue... Yes the V6 is a pain to work on, but now having some experience with both engines, I'd own either.

On a 92, asside from the normal check fluids, and ask for maintenance records etc.... make sure the rear window is working (from the front switch and from the rear key in the tail gate), the power antenna's break, but are easy and pretty cheap to fix. Cruise control seems to fail on these, but I'm not sure what the problem is. They are great trucks, look it over for scrapes underneath, and for any signs of abuse... Check the radiator for any silver stop leak, that's a bad sign... Take a compression tester and test at least the rear drivers side cylinder ( you will have to pull the intake duct...) That cylinder is the problem ont he V6's.

I agree with this. [/thread]

I appreciate those who chimed in.

After looking at it and driving it, I decided to pass.
It pops out of first, so one must start in 2nd all the time.

The guy says he will take $800. It is in Telluride. If anyone else lives in this part of the world, and wants to check it out, it is a 92 4Runner advertised on Craigslist for $990.

This thing was an absolute dog; I understand why so may call it 3.slow.

I assumed it would be at least as fast as my 95 FZJ80, being that the Cruiser is about 6000# with full time 4WD and auto.

I am spoiled.

Sorry to refer to another forum, but CoTTORA's TC or one of the other peers there could be of help for sure. He has plenty of experience with 4Runners and the things to look for.
