Hi guys

My lc200 is equip with icon and is lifted about 2.5 up front and 2 in the rear. My right side axle boot has been busted 2x within this month. Is it because of too much lift up front? Or just poor manufacturer? The boot is what actually ripped and grease came out and splattered. Mechanic told me cause of too much lift. What do you guys suggest, advise or think otherwise?

No, it just happens sometimes. It is an exposed, soft piece that is under a bit of pressure. So if ever punctured by anything, it’s gonna go.

Now, I’ll say that when installing, lots of bad installers can damage the boots and they will go soon after install. I saw that a lot when the FJ Cruiser came out and been hearing about it ever since.

When you lift a vehicle with CV boots, the interior boot large diameter size portion always, as demonstrated in photo, has a bit more of an open crease in it than stock...and, in my experience with several lifted IFS vehicles, using OEM boots, over the years, this location is where they always seem to crack prematurely from just general use. I know it when I lift it and just count it as part of the pain/pleasure of having a lifted vehicle with different angles than on OEM equipment.

Perhaps there is a market for aftermarket tougher/different dimension OEM boots?
