I always thought he was in Greeley?

He's north of the springs and south of Wyoming for sure though ;-)

You might be right Andy. I also heard he has a shop in Windsor. The website could use a little work. Either way......he's in the vicinity of 80525 zip code. Fort Co, Greeley and Windsor should all be the same $$ shipping wise.

Well, sounds like we've got him nailed down within a 100 mile radius or so!

I sent him an email this morning, if I hear from I'll ask him directly and report back here so that it can be forever archived into the MUD knowledge base!

Reason I was asking was that I will be driving through Golden (SLEE) and Denver in a week or two and wanted to know where he was located.

I wanted to get spindle covers to run the bumper without swing outs, but I'm trying to save some money. Anyone have other ideas of how to protect the spindles when not running the swing outs?

I'll also mention that Mike now offers Zinc coating primer before Powder Coating. That seems like good insurance for such an expensive mod.

I have the front and rear high clearance BIO bumpers rear with double swingouts - been running it for a couple years now and its been great. One of my favorite mods and I'd buy it again in a heart beat. I really like the textured type powdercoating that I believe was his standard coating when I ordered my bumpers. I've worked with some local powder coating shops on parts for my FJ40 I still prefer the finish that shipped with my BIO bumpers. My brother and a friend had some black higher / semi gloss type finishes done locally on their bumpers, sliders etc and I think the finish on my BIO bumpers feels more durable. I live on the east coast where the rust can be bad, frequently drive on beaches, go to local ski resorts etc - areas where salt and sand can be rust inhibitors and the powdercoating on both bumpers has held up really well - no signs of rust so far. I've had my front bumper on for several years now and the rear on for a couple years.

As far as spindle covers I'd get creative and use a small piece of pipe for a sleeve or something - keep the spindles greased possibly even put some bearings on there with a cap. One thing I did to my spindle caps even though I leave my swing arms on all the time was get some rubber bearing buddy type caps that fit over the metal spindle caps. I picked them up from Northern tool as I damaged my original caps and came across them buying replacements. They are black too so it covered the chrome / zinc caps and gives a little extra protection. I really like the Slee threaded nut style spindle caps - my brother ordered a custom rear bumper for his jeep and it also came with the nut style spindle cap that threads into the swing arm. Nice upgrade but I've really had no problem with my caps - I like the black rubber covers I put on mine so you don't really see it anyway. I was all blacked out at one point so hiding the chrome was nice initially.

Also, I know people have complained about the latch pins and mine occasionally get stuck or are hard to pull out but its rare and I make a point to regularly lubricate them from the top and bottom. I may upgrade these at some point to the handle style pulls but again if you take care of them they work just fine.

I can't really think of any other upgrades I would go for. At some point custom changes and upgrades add up and some may not be worth the extra coin. I'm not having any problems with my hardware, no signs of rust, tire carrier has had a 35" tire on from day one and does not wobble or rattle. I really have nothing but good things to say about all the stuff I've purchased from Mike. All high quality stuff and it's served me well.

The cruiser community is a tough crowd and everyone on here demands high quality premium equipment. There are lots of good options out there now - way more than when I first bought my 100. I often compare the craftsmanship and work on my BIO bumpers (welding, fit, finish, hardware, etc) to my jeep buddies mods and it blows most of them away. Again, lots of awesome bumpers out there now but I think anyone you talk to that actually owns BIO products is very happy with them; I certainly have been.

You can see the black spindle caps I used in the pic below. Tired uploading a couple phone pics and the second is kinda dark. Anyway just adding a little feedback.

He's located in Windsor, CO 80550.

Since a lot of the hardware is Metric, they're not Grade 8. They're Class 10.9, which from what I understand is closer to a grade 5 than an grade 8. Class 12.10 is the metric equivalent-ish of the Grade 8. If he was using below Class 10.9 before, that would explain the failures.
