@Jim_Chow
well.. I have the V8 engine and the factory installed electric winch as well as the AHC.. my LC is VX-R.. GX-R is the V6 engine that also has the factory installed electric winch option.. the "R" usually means you get most if not all the bells and whistles.. so a GX or a VX is a basic land cruiser usually with manual tranny etc.. that is for sure.. now about the AHC not being able to handle the weight.. that is exactly what I'm not sure about.. can't get a straight answer here from Toyota or ARB...

Not sure if this is necessary for you but might be a good idea:

The way I look at it, if you had the 1HD-FTE engine, you could still get AHC w/ no winch, right? That engine weighs hundreds of pounds more (200 lbs?) than the 2UZ (V8), and the AHC still has to support that weight. I'd try to find the weight spec between the TD and V8 models. The TD also has a second battery, and the blower/intercooler plumbing add even more weight. Maybe if one buys a TD w/ AHC, you get the LC t-bars instead of the thinner Lexus bars? I find it hard to believe that an extra 200 lbs from a winchbar and lighter weight winch is gonna be too heavy for the AHC. After all, what if the drive and passenger are overweight and weigh 300 lbs each? Is that going to overload the suspension? On a LC, I doubt it.

@hoser
thanks for the info.. I'll look into it :)

@Jim_Chow
I think the extra weight shouldn't be a problem for AHC with either engines.. I wanted to be sure 100% before I install the bar+winch.. I'll install Toyota's thicker t-bars or ARB's like slee said.. should be sufficient :)

it's finally done!

thanks for all your input the front is finally done.. :bounce:
ARB bull bar
OE T-Bars
Warn 9.5XP winch

LC-front.JPG

After installing the OE T-bars the 100 handles much better on sharp turns.. though it's not as comfortable on bumpy roads now..

Tested the winch also yesterday when a Chevy truck got stuck in the soft sand.. a huge improvement over the OEM winch.. got that Chevy out in seconds :)

after I installed the bumper, t-bars and winch.. the dealer checked the AHC with their computer and found that it was off by only 6mm which was fixed.. the lowest setting now seems messed up cause it takes a long time to get the LC down due to the thicker t-bars.. and once I set it back to the normal position the front kind off jumps into position rather than slowly lift up..

I do really appreciate all the help I got from all of you guys.. thanks again :)

No mods. The ARB Sahara bar is designed to take up to the 15K warn winch. The bumper is made very well, and it was the only way for me to install a winch properly. I 4wheel here in Tucson, and own a property in the White Mountains here in AZ. There are many times that I am the only truck offroad for many miles. I have to have a winch. I've used it many times and have pulled out folks that would otherwise be in a bad situation. check it out at www.antlerridge.com Lots of great offroading up there.

interesting I understood(according to the stuff I got from ARB) the Sahara bar was made to fit the 9500. Also I was not able to fit my Hella 4000's(that I took off my fj60 ARB) on my Sahara bar(on a 2000 Cruiser) I agree the Sahara is a nice bumper.......and I only paid $400 for mine :D

I guess I should pull the Warn 12k off my fj80 and put in on the 100, I don't drive the 80 anymore :(

No, not yet. I will soon. No need to recharge before I have to. Besides, I've never used the low setting. It's silly. It is only for loading, offloading. As soon as you take off, it goes back to the standard setting. Stays there all the way up to rev cut. No lowering at high speeds like other systems.

I'll be ordering from WWW.sleeoffroad.com very soon.

George

exactly why I didn't care about changing the torsion bar.. everything is fine with the AHC now except the low setting which I do not plan to use.. and I guess once I change the coil springs in the rear the AHC would not be able to hit the low setting anyways..

Have the AHC checked at a Toyota service center after you install the t-bars to get the sensors adjusted..

these are the same reasons I am not convinced.. but the problem is that the bull bar I purchased is the all metal deluxe bull bar.. which is considerably heavy.. the dealer here mentioned that the Sahara bar (the plastic one which is usually fitted to the Lexus) would be Ok on my LC..

There is nothing plastic on the Sahara bumper. The push bumper cushions are for pushing something. That bumper is solid steel and mounted in additional areas than the stock bumper for handling angle winching and bull kanagroos.

Siglo, did your deluxe ARB bar come in a choice of colors, or did you have it repainted? Seems only the black ones are sold here in the States. Did that light kit that fits in the winchbar also replace the turning signal as well as the fog in the OEM bumper? Do they work as good as the OEM fogs?

a candle would work better then the OEM fogs :D heck even the IPF fogs in my Sahara bar are pretty worthless, but the OEM JDM fogs I have on now work great.

the ARB's have markers and turn signals next to the IPF fogs(which are optional on both I think)

G,

The system does not lower at highway speeds by one inch as I previously thought. It will however go into extra high mode (high plus one more inch I believe) in low range if it thinks it's stuck. What those "stuck" conditions are is unknown to me. I thought I had read somewhere that it lowered at highway speeds but I guess it could have been internet fodder b/c it isn't in the manual with the rest of the speed info.

I guess I could have ordered a colored one from ARB.. but since they had the black one in stock I had them repaint it and install the head light water sprinkler thingy.. the bar didn't replace the turning signal, it is still there.. the one on the bar goes on with the turning signal.. it's pretty cool me thinks :)

not much difference with the IPF fog lights.. as Landpimp mentioned, they are both pretty worthless.. I'm planning on replacing the bulb with a stronger yellow fog bulb.. maybe that would give a slight improvement..

Is there any kind of Cibie or Hella HID low beam lamps that would fit where the IPF fogs go? Anyone have any specs on the IPF lamps that come w/ the deluxe winchbar? Is that an IPF-unique mount or something?

So I guess you managed to get a replacement ARB sticker when your bar was repainted?

I don't know about the lamp specs but I'll try to find out for you.. The sticker was in the box and not on the bumper.. so they attached it after the paint job I guess..
