After a year with this thing at work, hoping to get started on the lC9/6L80 swap I've taken it back to my home shop. (I did get the front axle ends rebuilt, along with rear axle bearings and all brakes while it was at work). In review, this 1993 FZJ-80 is getting: 2013 all aluminum 5.3 with vvt and dod along with a 6L80. Then the sunroof hole will be filled and a full low profile roof rack custom made. Front and rear expedition style bumpers and a full interior including sleeping platform (after insulation), finally a repaint in OE white with black trim.
Now to the juicy part, engine mounts are done, firewall is massaged for clearance (see pics) and today I got most of instrument cluster swapped. (I am using th 2013 Silverado cluster) it's almost made for it.
Stay tuned.

I got to spend some time in the shop today!
Mounted the fuel filter/regulator. Mounted the throttle pedal assembly complete with the stock 80 foot pad.

Fuel pump and GM sender....
This is getting fun but man it's going to be a long process.
This is the easy stuff.
Stay tuned, we're heading to AZ to watch some baseball and dry out next week, then I'll start the power steering and heater hoses.

So I need some other brain cells, I see when people use 4L gm transmissions they put the output speed sensor before the transfer case, and since I am installing a 6L80 and the OE output speed sensor was on the transfer case output to rear driveshaft should I adapt a GM style 128k (40 pulse per revolution) (2 wire vs 3 on the 80) sensor to the hf2a tail housing?
Also does anyone have a simple solution to the 2 wire GM 40 pulse sensor for this TC?
