I have been asked to do a build thread On my buggy, Raisin hell 2. Shes a 100% Toyota dna build with super geeky Toyota stuff. I have 1000s of pictures between the ones shown here. With complete details on each one. Very little was bought. It will be a process to do. Is anyone else interested in seeing how I built this ( with some help from a few great friends) ?? I turned a champion Ftoy into an outlaw..,
Here we go this will be a process .18 months start to finish 90% of the parts were custom made. Hope this is how you do a thread. To start I had a 4 runner that I knew would not live the season. I bought the 092 f toy frame that Chris Mercer used to own. Intention was to just bolt everything out of the Raisin on the the new chassis . But hell no we all know it doesn't. work that way. I had alot of help from a few guys at the shop i work at . Without Dave and Alex this project would have never gotten finished. So my story starts in Billings canyon with the brutal death of raisin hell 1. Weekend # 1
Then to the geeky Toyota stuff. Axles!!! I took a semi float 91/92 rear axle turned it into a frt steer axle. Aftermarket knuckles . Cruiser Outfitters knuckle kit and wheel bearings . A Wizard custom made truss. Frt and rear. ( poor welds made by me.. Great welds the Wizard did)
T case weekend. Marlin 4.7s in the rear case. Then installed everything onto a bad tranny. Tranny and t cases come out through the cockpit it was a fun weekend!!
Paint and the beginning of final assembly. Spray bombed the chassis out side. Asked our body shop manager to green tape spots the didn't look good! Sciffed it and re shoot it with spray bombs in the paint booth the next weekend.
Final assembly and paint .. 1st time seeing it on its real tires. Seeing it killed the rest of the day I just sat there drank some beer and looked at it. Im about 1 yr into the build here
