Does the 'starter isolation' wire need to be hooked up? If so which fuse, in the fuse panel under the hood, do I tap into for 'Starter Isolation' when using the Blue Sea ACR 7610? What happens if I don't hook it up?

You don't have to use it, I tapped straight into the wire on the starter that has 12v present when key is turned to start position. I think all this does it isolates start to one battery, once topped off the isolator opens and allows the house to receive alternator current.

Which wire is it that has power only when key is turned to START position? Thanks!

If I remember correctly, and it was a while ago, purple? I'll be back under the rig doing a knucke rebuild and ps pump rebuild so I can check again to be sure.

This is manual and auto control, I just want it for winch and accessories like cell phone charging at camp and any stuff that I need an inverter for. Think a solar panel is overboard when parked and not charging from the alternator? Figure the sun can do some charging too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't this just isolate the batteries when charging? I would think you'd need an A/B switch to isolate them when the truck isn't running to avoid the drain on your start battery.

The one I'm going to use says this:
SI-ACR automatically combines batteries during charging, isolates batteries when discharging and when starting engines. The Dual Circuit Plus™ Battery Switch simplifies the switching of two batteries to OFF or ON while still providing battery isolation between the engine and auxiliary battery. The Combine function can be used to parallel the batteries in the event of a low engine battery.

I know the SI-ACR does but the picture above shows a ML-ACR. I used the add a battery Blue sea kit which contained the ACR and the A/B hybrid switch.

It's looking like this has just a manual switch option. In case you need to switch it because of some failure in the unit maybe?

I think you're right, either way one should test it at home to see if it works, I did mine that way, just drained the house battery to see if I could still start and was good. After recharging I did the same on the start battery to drain and then used the AB switch to combine and was also good to go.

about to install the 7610, just to confirm I don't need to install the start isolation wire in order to isolate batteries on start up? Does the 80 alternator provide less than 120 amps, I saw another article that says the alternator charges much more than 100 amps

The stock alt is 90A I believe, you don't need the start isolation wire but its pretty simple to hookup. I'm running the Sequoia 150A alt with mine and no issues.
