Yeah thats along the same lines I was thinking, 30 MPG on a daily basis, but enough FT LBS to tow 12000 lbs when needed(or course it better have enough brakes), sounds great on paper.

X2 it certainly sounds good on paper from what I've read, wish it was a baby cummins would make it that much sweeter knowing Cummins did the R&D work. The 8 Spd tranny should give it plenty hwy gearing to a achieve good mpg's and maybe lock it down to a 6 Spd when towing. Time will tell but I know several folks watching to see what it's going to perform like, Albert and I had that conversation on the Tennessee trip.

Need some help...as most of you know, I am not the worlds smartest when it comes to "wrenching". However, I am trying to do a lot on my new 80 and learn/do as much as I can. My rig currently leans slightly to the drivers side. When I took it to a mechanic to do a full analysis, he told me that the driver's side shocks have more play in them than the passenger side, but recommended that I replace all four shocks.
Two questions:
1. Can the shocks on the drivers side have lost some pressure and be causing the slight lean?
2. The shocks are Old Man Emu Nitro Chargers, can I just order those and replace them myself (in other words, is it un-bolting and re-bolting, or should I take it to a shock/strut place)?

Also, thanks for all of the winch feedback from everyone...I think I may go with the smittybilt.

the lean to the driver side is most prob due to excessive weight on that side:D
shocks that are totally spent can contribute to but are not likely the reason the springs are getting weak.
before u spend $$$ on sups decide what ya want when you finish then go with what it takes to achieve the desired result:)

Ok...so what needs to be replaced?
Do I need new springs and shock?
And the lean is very slight...I just notice little things like that (and then it drives me crazy until it is fixed)

And it does lean more when my big butt is in it!!

yup new springs & shocks are ya gona lift it ? if so now is the time

It already has a 3" OME lift...I'm just trying to get the lean out

This is the post from the rig that I bought:

"1996 Toyota Land Cruiser - 179k Miles

Runs good / Clean interior

Fully locked
OME Lift
ARB and SLEE bumpers /Tire Carrier
Sliders
Skid Plates
New Stereo/amp/woofer
CB
Oil seals replaced
New water pump
New Master cylinder
AC works
Hood Vents
Sheep skin seat covers (drivers is worn, others are in good shape)

Truck is used but not abused.

Paint is pretty scratched up
Tires still have some tread left, maybe 5-7k miles.
Winch needs to be replaced
Driver door needs replacement handle"

I'd unbolt the back shocks and see if they are good it maybe just a slightly bent spring bud, doesn't sound like the lift is that old and those shocks are tough. I developed the same last year and have the drivers lean as well my shocks are good I feel mine is a bent spring but I also have a dented lower control arm. Also can add a 1 inch spacer and call it a day like this guy and wheel it and enjoy it :)

Looks like a great rig bud and has everything you need for a good wheeling and family hauling rig even the fancy seat covers, that's the only thing I see that don't fit but I bet they are warm in the Tx winters, LOL.

The seat covers have already been removed...

I've been following the new "1/2 ton" diesel also. I was planing on trading in my current truck in October on this diesel but because of my current situation I may have to go a different route. My son in law works at a Dodge dealership and has been going to school to get training on this new truck the engine will be offered in other Dodge/Ram products :) The transmission and frame will be great the only concern I have is if the rear axle will hold up to the weight it is pulling.I'm not saying it won't it's just a concern I have. Man I need to water the money tree in the yard to get a new 6.7 HO Cummins :D

My 100 is going to Southern Speed in Baton Rouge next Saturday. He is using it to design a new bumper for the 100 series. Some of you may have seen his GX at SCC last year and the design will be similar to that bumper.

I wheeled with him for a day at SCC. That a sharp looking front bumper he had on his GX .Dont be shy on posting up pictures when he's done with it.

Happy 4th of July folks I hope ya'll have a GREAT day. Cheers!

ditto !

I open up my cap and this is what I see... A pink painted axle.. Could this be the root cause of my axle breakage? :confused:Could I have been sabotaged at SCC a couple years ago? Makes a man wonder:meh:
