I talked to the guy with the 2002 today. Sounds like a nice truck. He will be sending me pics tonight. The main attraction to the '96 was the price but I am concerned about the mileage. I think I will make arrangements to look at the '02 this weekend and if all is good, drive it home.

@Mike: One is in Mississipi and one is in prairieville. I found them both on craigslist but you may have sent me something on the '02, not sure. the'96 ad was dated Tuesday.

I had seen that one and it is sweet however, it is a little too modded up for my purposes. I will be doing alot of driving for work. It is very tempting though. As far as elocker, i'm not sure if the one i am going to look at has one. I hope it,does but i am under a bit of a time crunch so i don't think i will be able to wait to find one that does.

It looks like all the one on sportsman has is a lift. If it's truly 82k miles for $8900 that would be hard to beat. I'd pull the grill guard off though.

I was thinking the same thing Brian. Good to see you still stop in once in a while. You gonna come to SI over the Labor Day weekend?

John, if the MT's are too much, get another set of tires / rims to put on the street. I think the interior is better modded than the suspension. :D

So....I went to bed last night with my mind made up that I was probably going to go look at the '02 tonight. After reading these posts (thank you, by the way) I started thinking that the '98 would be ideal. I could get a set of street tires and rims for daily driving and still have the MT's for when it is time to play. I could also sell off some of the stereo equipment (i'm starting to get too old for that anyway) and grille guard to help offset the cost of the extra wheels. I decided to give the owner a call. he finally called me back about 5:00. He is a student at LSU and is waiting for a truck to come in a dealership. He can't sell the 4runner yet because he will have nothing to drive. Also, he has someone who says they want to buy it, so I would be second in line. I need to get a vehicle very soon (like this weekend) so this is not going to work for me. Looks like its back to the '02!!

I have scheduled a trip up to Jackson tomorrow afternoon to look at the '02. If all is well, I will be driving it home!

I actually forgot to go after work...Didn't remember til I got home. I will go either later tonight to get a look or tomorrow before I head up to jJackson.

Tomorrow. It's a little too dark for pics tonight. I didn't get home til about 9:00

Congrats on the new rig look forward to seeing the pics. So what was the first impressions on the drive home? We had a 98 limited was our first family SUV and was a great vehicle the 3.4 was a great improvement over the 3.0 in the previous model. After my son was born we traded it in on a Expedition which was a terrible decision wish I would have upgraded the suspension and kept it. Live and learn ? Congrats I'm sure you'll really enjoy it.

First impressions are good. A little more of a bouncy, truck type ride than i thought but much less than I am use too and probably should have been expected. It drives good with very little steering/suspension play especially for 128,000 miles. So far, I like it!

Back from TCCC. No good pics except for a couple of my buddies H3. I'm trying to get some from another guy in our group.

The park is similar to Sicily with a few areas that look like old stripper pits. Good group, but a very small even. Woody was the only familiar face there, but the TCC guys will be familiar next time I make it.

I was impressed with the H3 (stock with 35's) after we disconnected the sway bars. The 4Runner did awesome as alway, but I think this was the last run on the oem clutch. It's been slipping on me lately and it got hot on a couple of big hills (stinky). I'm looking at the MC 1200 or 1600. Right now I am leaning more towards the 1600 because I have read that it's not as stiff as I originally though. Anyone able to offer a review on either clutch? I now have a 3" intake, the later model plenum, and the header, open exhaust etc and when I push the skinny pedal, that clutch just doesn't want to turn those 35's.
