Happy Birthday Matt!

Long time no talk.

New job, new city, feels like a new life. Man, I've been busy. USACE is keeping me busy and I am enjoying the work. When we get free time, the wife and I go out and ride bikes on local trails and visit some of the local islands. Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of Toyota friends here, and the once I do have live in Cedar Rapids. I actually met them at SCC last year.

Anyway, I am getting geared up for TCCC, and hit MUD today to get some info on the event. Hopefully, I will make some new friends and get refreshed on all of this. I miss chatting on here, but I need some wheeling fixes to keep me going, and I haven't had enough of that lately. Hope to see you guys at SCC!

Holy hell batman!! I was just thinking about you yesterday and how we hadn't heard from you in a while. I had no idea that you had moved. Where are you now? Glad it's all working out for you. Stop in hear once in a while and like Paul said, report back to us on events that we might want to put on our list.

Hope to see you in Hot Springs! :bounce:

We are living in Rock Island, IL, right on the border with Iowa. I'm working on Arsenal Island for the Corps of Engineers. I'm going IT work supporting the island and the locks and dams.

Recently got an LCE header for the runner. Also, working through some issues that I think are vacuum related. I'll try to get a good report back from TCCC.

Glad you're thinking about me Mike....

If you're not living in Galva, IL, could you please send me your new address so I can update my file. If you DO have a new address, have you changed it with TLCA so you can continue getting your Toyota Trails? They do not forward those unless you paid extra when you signed up/renewed.

Thanks

Thanks for the reminder. Sending PM.

You're very welcome!

Ok, I am looking for some advice. I am looking to buy a vehicle to use as a daily driver and for work. I will be driving about 20-25k miles a year for a new job. I am looking at 3rd generation 4runners since I can get one relatively cheap and if I get one with 4wd it can double as a toy until I replace it and make it into a trail rig:D.

Anyway, i have found 2 choices:

1. 1996 4x4 loaded with 182,000 miles. The owner says it is in excellent condition. $5000.00

2. 2002 4x4 Limited loaded new tires, 128,000 miles. according to the ad everything works perfect except the antenna does not go down(easy fix). $9400.00.

I was trying to stay under 150,000 miles since it will be a daily driver and i will be on the road for work. However, I like the price of option 1 if it is as nice as the owner says. I am willing to pay more though if it is a better, more reliable vehicle.

I guess my question is; is there anything different between the two that would make you choose one over the other. My main concern is mechanical reliability more than features.

Thanks in advance for you opnions.

John

My .02 ........

Get the 2002. At 15 years old, the '96 may develop a few "issues" that need attention. Hopefully the 2002 won't require as much immediate attention. For mechanical reliability and to use as a DD, I would get the newer model with less mileage.

Where are these trucks? Are they some of the one's I sent to you?

your criteria of under 150K makes the choice on these two:)
