Thanks for all the good advice fellas. That's why I posted here. I guess I didn't really think too much about drivability of such a vehicle for a new driver. What I am thinking is that I could do a buildup of a vehicle that would handle my whole family if we ever find thebtime to make some trips with all of you. I also thought that I could drive it until she gets her license and if she didn't like it, I could keep it and get her something else. Paul, you make some great points that I hadn't considered. For some reason, I have in my head that a big, heavy vehicle will be safer. My biggest concern is her safety. MPG is of no big concern. I am going to be a nervous wreck every time I know she's on the road. If I feel she's driving something that will get her home or will give her the best chance of being alright if sh's involved in an accident, then I'll be less nervous. At present, she's learning to drive behind the wheel of my F-250 and handles that beast well.

You don't need to steer at mud bogs up here. It's pretty much a 6ft deep, 8ft wide pit filled with gumbo.
