Anyone know what the deal is/was with the silver FJ Cruiser that broke at the Crawl?

Chris

Thanks, but I was wondering on the after Crawl situation.
Mainly was Toyota gonna warranty it. They promote it to be wheeelin' ready, but do they back this claim.

Chris

Cost him $3500 to pick it up! Toyota didn't cover a thing. Makes me wonder about the warranty. Toyota shouldn't send a trail team out to show the capabilities of the truck if they aren't gonna cover failures that aren't caused by modifications (rear diff). Just my opinion.

That just aint right. Seems like I was told that he broke on one of the trails they (Toyota) uses in one of their sales promo's touting the off-road ability of the new FJ Cruiser. I had a good look at the rig after getting him off the trail and back to camp. I can see not covering the front end damage but Toyota should have covered the rear diff!

Sorry George - I didn't mean to make it sound like I did it all alone. Without your help the winch was just pulling me down the hill. BTW - I KNOW I would stick with your 80!

That's pretty lame...I think I'll stick with my 80 (that help drag him out).

You said it.
I'll stick with my "paid for" 80 as well.
I understand others can, but I can't justify wheelin' a new rig that I'm making 5-6 years of $280+ payments on.... unless Toyoyta truly warrantied it no questions asked.

Same place they draw the line on the Trail Team FJ's that they send out for marketing purposes. Putting a lift and bumpers on it and showing pictures of it trail riding in magazines makes me think they think it's ok if consumers to do the same.

I didn't expect anything different.... it's still lame.

Where do they draw the line though?

Again, I can live with the lift issue if we are talking about the front end damage but not the rear third member damage. I say they should have covered that and I'm sure that was most of the $$$

Just My 2 cents,

Understand I was a VIRGIN trail rider at GrayRock. But what I did with my 40 and what I witnessed some of you do with your 60&80 series there is no way in hell I would do with a vehicle that i will be payin for for the next 4 or 5 years.
It does look pretty lame for Toyota to have a trail team showing the FJ's abilities and a customers FJ fails on the trail. Since I only saw the FJ come into the park on Thursday and leave on the tow truck was the FJ doing something more than the Toyota team was demonstrating.

About the warranty situation, I would be surprised if Porsche would warranty a car that was used on a race track and broke because of racing it. It may be able to race but doesn't mean you should. Not taking up for the Manufacture just have dealt with this kind of thing before.

Toyota motor company, the most profitable Car manufacture in the world should take care of their customer for no other reason than PR.

Dude ought to PUSH them on this. He should have, needs to be talking to the Region Service Rep for Toyota for help. Most Dealers will just blow off the customer in a situation like this and collect $$$$. Toyota can-should help their customer out some.

Looks bad and cruiser heads will definitely talk about this for awhile.

After two weeks of rain, Cottonland sure picked the right weekend for Gray Rock.

I have to agree with Chris. That guy needs to push Toyota on this one. As Chris said, this will be talked about for a long time and ultimately have an effect on their sales. It may not be a big enough effect to change Toyota's mind, but it will be a big enough effect to change the minds of all the loyal toyota wheelers that might have bought one for their wife or children. Jenni had expressed interest in an FJ before the ride, but I know that her thoughts have changed on that. The primary reason for that change has been this thread and the hardships of that guy. $3500 is a lot of money at my house. As previously stated by others, that is why I don't wheel a truck I owe money on and damn sure don't wheel my daily driver. No offence to those of you that do.

I've never been that serious on MUD before. I'll try not to let it happen again.
