Ok, just got off the phone with Toyota, they want $80 for the bimetal vacuum switching valve... and $50 for the 3 hole AAP diaphragm...

Can I just block the end of the AAP off?

And how can I bypass the BVSV and what all does it effect? It's the 3 prong one you can't look at with out breaking and it sits in the middle of the manifold...

I've seen this 22R Carburetor FAQ

but I guess I need some reassurance and directions since I don't mess with these systems much...

When I did that on my Celica's 22R I found it backfired like crazy while trying to warm up anytime it was less than 70 degrees outside and the engine wasn't up to operating temps yet. Even then, once warmed up, I could never get the idle mixture just right, I'd drive down into the Valley and find the manifold glowing, and then later after work back home with it starving for fuel on the grades.

IMHO Just go ahead and get new, you gotta figure that for most of the time they'll last easily 5-7 years before the things fatigue, just chalk it up to an operating and ownership expense.

[EDIT] tried to see what C-Dan can price them at for you yet?

man,,, I've gone through about 1 every time I mess with a carb manifold... I swear the things don't like me...

Thanks 2ndGen...

called Napa and they needed a carb #... No tag on carb :-(

Anybody got a part # on a good kit?

Also, it's got the funky tri star Asin brand on it but under it is some weird writing and I'm almost positive it doesn't say Asin... But it's close... Never mind... Says Air ram or something like it...

well... don't think I'll bypass it...

GP sorensen Autozone Aisin carb rebuild kit: $32 P# 96-615B

Napa AAP diaphragm: $15 P# 2-4014

2 Bymetal switching vales (stock P# Aisin 25810-27010) at pull-a-part $2.50 ea. What a ripoff :flipoff2:

Does anybody recognize the switch on the right? nevermind... it's a 20R cali emissions, and the ports are different. It is NOT aftermarket and has the NipponDenso and Teq mark... But I've never seen one. They both came from the same places on the truck, so I guess they are the same thing...
