I think making a shaft out of some square tube and your u joints off of you broken shaft will work the best. They give you tons of slip and are alot stronger. They are not a good idea for on road. They are not balanced and make alot of noise. If you fill them up with grease you should solve the noise problem. But if you just want a spare then i think a square one would be the best.

a spare hub would be cool but ya might carry it around for a few years :) (drive shaft, seals and birfs, inners, rear axles, 3rd member(you may really need to carry this around if you are sprung over with out a track bar),tire patch kits, stems...

I thought, with big tires ( + chains in my case ) never broke any ( so far ) , I have a front cromo set, but always carry 2 stock bierfields .. whoknows .. ! :D u joints, duc tape, alternator, oil, clutch slave, brake cilinder, and many others things ..

when is enough . .? :D

I don't think that there is anything that is too much. Ironic coming from a guy that has no money. I'd like to put in strong, solid axles in my rig. I think that if a transfer case cannot handle what I want to do with it, then I need a new transfer case.
