I disassembled my 1978 FJ55 and mostly did a good job documenting where everything fits except for this Spring.

Can someone who has an original, unmodified 55 take a picture of where the Brake Pedal Spring attaches to at the Steering Wheel end? The Firewall end of the spring is no sweat as it attaches to the Pedal Pin .... but for the life of me I need to see what is on the other end.

I think I may have removed a bracket and shes gone bye-bye!

Thanks a lot!

Good picture of the clutch spring but also shows just enough of what I need to see on the brake spring too. Mine is the same with a nice Eye for the Clutch spring to attach to but no such designed spot for the Brake Spring except for a hole in the side of the bracket which looks like your setup . With the spring in that spot it pulls at an angle instead of straight back like the Clutch Spring.

If anyone can take a look at theirs and verify you have the same thing I will call it good and move on...no need to take pictures just a quick post that your brake pedal spring attaches on the same bracket and is at an angle from the pedal would be good.

Thanks for the Picture Gonzo...much help.

Thanks all....

Bang; don't use the brake much anyway ! Sorry bro , I looked at the brake spring and it attaches to the same bracket as the clutch but a different hole just to the right of where the clutch spring attaches and yes the brake spring ends up being about 10-20 deg off center AKA an angle

No worries your picture was very helpful and I appreciate the help. Another member sent some pics of his Beautiful 55 and it has everything in the same place it did when it left Japan!

Again Thanks a bunch!

Best regards.
