Hi folks

I have a 1991 V6 4Runner.
I replaced the brake pads and rotors on the front of the truck about 6 months ago.

Now I have a bright BRAKE light on my dash.
I've checked the fluid and there is plenty of fluid in the resevior.
Pad thickness seems alright. Brake pressure is firm, not spongy and I don't have excess pedal travel.

Any clues?

Look under the dash at the bottom of the parking brake assembly. There is a small switch that is pressed when you let the brake off, as things wear out they tab will miss the switch and the light will stay on. Usually pulling the handle back up a little and readjusting will turn it off.

You have ONE of TWO issues

either the float in the master cylinder is stuck down, OR like Jerod said the parking break is stuck open, so look at the plug and make sure the switch in a closed position

FAQ this Jerod
