Where are you guys mounting the actual controller? I have it mounted near my right knee, just under where the handle throttle is located. I don't like there.

Mine is mounted to the lower dash just under the rear heater switch. Wiring feeds into a hole drilled into the top left of the up-angled piece at the front of the shifter console. It is accessible and doesn't interfere with my knee at all.

Want to share some pictures for an LX470 in case someone is looking to do this. There are 3 panels to remove.

Tools needed: Philips Screwdriver, Needle Pliers, 10mm socket, 1 very short screwdriver

1- Take the top of the steering cover panel. (The one with dim control scroll) . Just pull
2 - Take the Plastic trim under, one screw in the corner and taps on other corners, you can use the needle pliers to press on the tabs from the inside.
3 - Take the metal piece by using the 10m socket.

You should see the connector behind the air vent, I didn't have to take the air vent, just run the cable there and connect it.
Sorry I didn't take a picture with the metal piece off, it was too hot outside and my brain was getting cooked.

Necro post... another somewhat easier option is a Curt wireless brake controller. It uses the bluetooth connection on your phone. You still would need to wire in a 7 Pin connector though. I use one on my Tacoma, works very well. I do need to get some gremlins out of the 7 pin wiring on my LC so I can use it there. This… I towed my trailer to Cruise Moab 830 miles using the echo. Worked flawlessly!
