The Whaler is a good boat. Grady white makes a nice one as well. Another brand Tide runner is good too--usually you can find these used with a Yamaha. My whaler is an Outrage 17 1990--I purchased just the haul and put a new 115 Yamaha in 94-the boat was 4 years old used 2x--- it is rated at 120hp---I cracked the transom using it in big waves and Whaler would not honor the warranty---I think that is pretty weak. The other haul the montauk will kill your back in waves. If you are set on a whaler check out the outrage 17, 19, and 21. I got mine without teak--has been a good boat but stuff like the wires to the running lights are too short--every try to add on to a wire in a 1" hole? I left mine on a buoy for 6 months out of the year in 6' waves--maintenance= pressure washer.
This guy has a good point if you aren't going to beach the boat--inflatables with a rigid haul rock.
For our use, I actually like rigid hull inflatables better - much more comfortable in heavy water / poor conditions, significantly faster in those conditions and generally felt more stable.
