Bolt on, KDSS compatible, in stock or short lead sliders

I managed to get my money back from Visa on my Explore Overland order so back to square one here.

I know metal tech has their OPOR sliders in stock powdercoated and bare.

I would prefer a set that are decked and flat like those. Anything out there that fits the bill?

White knuckle off-road makes a pair of sliders that are compatible with KDSS. You can select the angle for the sliders as well as inclusion of a top plate or not.

I love mine. Had a defect in the the KDSS bracket location on the first one sent to me, and they worked with me to get a new one sent out same week. Didn’t even want me to send the old one back to them.

Couldn’t find their lead times on their website, but I don’t think they keep the sliders in stock. Think it’s made to order.

Agree. White Knuckle sliders on my 2005 GX with KDSS as well.
great product, sturdy, look terrific, installed easy and fit perfectly. Price was slightly less than other quality competitors too!
I got the standard 11* angle and would recommend it, but you can choose flat if wanted. The top deck (plate) is nice as well.
Lead time WAS only about 3 weeks. No idea now…

They are KDSS-compatible for the 5th gen T4R. I am not sure how similar the 4th gen T4R/GX470 KDSS system is to the 5th gen T4R system, so you would need to verify that they won't conflict with your KDSS system.

They are also not a total bolt on when placed on a GX470, but they don't require any welding either. The 5th gen T4R frame has more threaded holes than the 4th gen T4R/GX470, but both frames share around 7-8 threaded holes on both sides, in exactly the same places. I installed the All-Pro sliders on my non-KDSS GX470 by making a template based on the sliders, drilling something like 5-7 holes on each side of the frame, and then adding rivnuts in the holes. It's kind of slow/tedious as you need an angle drill and a step bit (plus lots of cutting oil) but is not very difficult on the DIY scale. The sliders then bolted right up. I've had them on for over a year and love them. I have pictures of the process on my build thread.

Is the 11 degree still an alright step? My wife finds the truck to be a bit of a hassle to get into between the lift and running board removal.

It really isn’t an issue… certainly not for me (6’), and not for my 5’6” wife (I just asked her ). Small kids might have a bit of a stretch up to the “first step”, but hey, they’re not small forever, right??
I have a moderate lift…2.5” or so.
And, upon exiting the vehicle, there is less of a drop than the OEM boards.
The nice thing is, they tuck up a bit better than flat slider would.

I will say that one needs to be a bit more precise about toe/foot placement when stepping onto the sliders than you would with running boards simply because the boards are lower, flatter and wider…hence an easier target.

Foot placement was my question really, I don’t imagine they’re all that much higher at 11 degrees, so long as a foot can still get some purchase

I have an email out to white knuckle about lead times, they seem like a good contender.

Yes, you can still get some (quite a bit actually) purchase.
I use them often to reach items on my roof rack. I can stand on them as long as needed…plenty of platform for that.
And they sit higher than stock boards, so access to the rack is much easier.

My ex was 5’3”, and the angled steps were, at least for her, a huuuge upgrade over the deleted running boards. It’s a really slight angle, and, imo, mostly for aesthetics. As far as using the sliders as a step, I prefer them over the running boards.

RSG took 2-3 weeks on mine, but ai opted for raw. Powdercoating adds to lead time significantly. Plus they sell them without a stupid bumpout.

I think having them fabbed locally and welded on is usually best option, cheaper too, at least here in Denver

Bolt-on allows them to easily be taken off and painted, powdercoated, Raptor-lined, etc. Rock sliders will end up looking pretty ragged even if they never even hit a rock - mine are missing paint on the underside due to the tires kicking up sand and rocks, and the tops are also getting chipped due to me loading bikes on the roof wearing cycling shoes with metal cleats. The GX can also be easily returned to stock with bolt-ons. Strength should be basically the same between the two, my bolt-ons have over a dozen M8X1.25 grade 8.8 bolts on each side - you could lift the GX in the air from just the slider.

Powdercoating sliders are just for show TBH. If you aren't scratching your sliders, you don't need them. Rattle-can is the way to go, easy to touch up.

Weld-on will support the weight of the vehicle. My RSGs move when I set them on jacks. The bolts are TIGHT. Got weld-ons on my 7000lb Tundra. I can jack one full side of the truck up with a hi-lift.

I don’t want to weld because if I were ever to be ordered to inspection by a cop or vehicle inspection around here it’s a fail, frame welds have to be inspected and no inspector will pass them.

Fair enough. I would call RSG and see how long they are out on bare sliders. I used etching primer and rustoleum on mine 8-9 months ago, only rust spots are where I have smacked them on rocks and scratched the paint. Powder would do the same but just be harder to recoat.

I'm good with raw and spray bombing them, I have been trying to reach white knuckle all week without luck tho.
