So, I am working on getting ready to swap the body off of the rottisserie and back on the frame. I got this car in pieces and can't remember what body mounts go where. I have one of the SOR poly kits and it looks like it has most of the stuff except for the 4 washers that go in the cab of the truck up front.

From what I can see there are 8 body mounts on the frame that are visible / obvious. 4 in the rear and 4 in the front. My sor kit has 16 mounts that fit here, although I think I will have to trim the bottom mounts a bit to get them to press into the stock pig metal recesses. That leaves me with 4 mounts leftover that are 2 smaller and 2 about the same size as the others but a bit different. Where do these mount? I am guessing the front clip somewhere?

Also, are there different sized of bolts that need to be used? does anyone have the exact size that are needed? does not need to be metric. From what I can tell some are going to need to be longer than others, the 4 in the back seem like they will be shorter, while the front are going to have to be longer as they go through the body and into the cab area.

2nd also, do the large flat washers go on top of each rubber piece, meaning does the body lay on top of: washer/poly bush/frame/rubber bushing/washer? as seen here:

if anyone has any pics or advice, it would be appreciated.

thanks,

Noah

Noah; the bolts are different lengths; IIRC the rear are the shorter ones and they are a total bitch to get in:bang:; tried to use ones from the local Lowes and finally gave up as not worth the trouble and maybe breaking one while trying to jam it in:hillbilly: .......:idea:went OEM and C-Dan still has them listed last time I ordered; think they were about a buck a piece....but well worth it as didn't have to "rig":hillbilly: anything........just a bit of grease and:D:bounce2:......SOR's parts breakdown isn't much help either............are you thinking about trimming the "spacer/lift block"? for a better fit.......HTH:cheers:

thanks lou, I think I will just need to trim a bit off the the sor blocks so that they fit in the round area on some of the body mounts, hopefully I will figure out where the other 2 mounts are eventually, I am sure they will show themselves as I get the panels put on.

The other two mounts attach the front clip to the front crossmember, and they are only a few inches apart.

I think the washers go on the outside, washer-bushing-frame-bushing-washer-body.

Let me know how you trim the bushings, I have the same set but haven't installed it yet and I noticed the same problem.

desertlake, thank you, that helps, one other question though, I see where you mean on the two holes on the front of the frame, but the other 4 extra bushings, there are 2 smaller and 2 larger, do the smaller go inside the frame or on top?

on the trimming, I think it will be necessary, the bushings fit fine from on top in the hole because going down the hole in some of the mounts it is tapered, but from the bottom the ridge is too tight and some of the poly will need to be ground off with a file I think. I would like to have it sit nice and flush.

I just checked my old bushings, the wide one goes on top and the narrow one on bottom.

I also just noticed that mine had been given a 5/8" body lift at the mounts, about 30 years ago, but nothing was done about the rubber blocks that support the body between the front and rear mounts. No sign of body sag, I guess it didn't really need them...

On the lower part of the body mounts at the front of the cab, did you have to grind off some of the metal?

Hopefully this blurry picture speaks for itself...

not sure what you mean, I did not have to grind off any of that metal, actually I see what you mean now. The sor bushing kit I got did not line up right here, so I took a bench grinder and ground down the "lip" on the sor bushing so that it would fit better. I suppose you could possibly grind that lip down and drill a bit bigger hole as well, that may be a cleaner end result.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but the lower lip of that roughly cone shaped piece of metal actually protrudes through the mount, so the rubber would only be in contact with the lip. I'm afraid the rubber will split if it is only in contact with that small surface. I'll try to get a better picture later.

Edit - there we go...

yup, that is the problem I had as well using the sor poly bushings, like I said, I had to slightly modify the lip on the poly bushing and bring it in a bit with a bench grinder, worked great. My only worry about grinding down that metal lip is I don't know how that round piece above is secured into that hole? I think you might compromise the strength by grinding on that, better to probably alter the body mount just a bit to fit.
