This picture should say it all:

In the RED box, this appears any time I shift into Reverse and blocks the full view.

- Yes, previously set to BT in audio
- Happens at start and Reverse just as driving for a while then going into Revers
- Also happens with the default Map view (same place, same message) - hitting Map button makes it go away then.
- Didn't use to happen
- Using Galaxy Note 10 phone but happened with last Galaxy Note also
- Might have started with updated BT in the past year or so - can't recall exactly when it started
- Up to date with my Nav DVD and such (I think)

2011 LC - stock, not A/V changes.

When in reverse, you can't just hit Map to get it to clear, that takes you out of rear camera mode and there's no way back in except to go from Reverse to another gear then back to Reverse to the rear camera back on.

It's driving me insane - thoughts?

Thanks,
Patrick

So, am I to believe nobody else is having this annoying problem or, do I have poop on my shoe?

Sorry, I guess I'm being obtuse.

That red box notification appears only when I go into reverse and stays there.

I was asking if anybody else had the same problem - is it a setting I accidentally turned on.

No idea, want it to go away.

ANY ideas would be great.

Thanks,
Patrick

I noticed this on my 2010 LC yesterday, but I haven't had any time yet to troubleshoot it. Similar circumstances as OP, although I'm using a Galaxy S10e. I'll mess around with it this weekend and see if I can gain any additional insight.

Do you have any friends or family that have other kinds of phones that you could try, like an iPhone. My family all have iPhones, and don't see this. It may be worth a shot?

I'm 95% sure I've never seen this on my '14 LX, using a Galaxy S8. Can't check for now (two broken legs, can't get in the car), but will keep an eye on it whenever I do get back to driving.

Oh dear god Man, no, please forget looking - heal, heal, heal!

But, while convalescing, if you want to look around, my guess is it has something to do with all our Samsung phones updating Bluetooth.

Our 'old' LC's don't have updates like that.

Seriously, good luck on your recovery!

You know what, I have a newish, unused Apple phone I could try. Here's the crappy rub, I also have five sons and they fight each other when they borrow my car to add themselves (remove their brothers) from the VERY limited number of Bluetooth slots in the LC (stupid limit - 4- really!).

Screw 'um, I'll try this weekend using the 'new' phone.

Good idea, thanks,
Patrick

Coolio - let me know what you find - I'm betting it's the latest version of Bluetooth - guess it likes some state of constant contact and our LC's just want to let us know.

BUT, that logic would indicate the message would come up and stay all the time or say when I increase the volume on my phone.

Don't know - but it started after an phone / OS update.

It's a pain.

Thanks,
Patrick

Well, I fooled around with it and figured out the following:

- Samsung S10e running Android 10 (pie) -
  • The persistent notification bar shows up when the auto-play kicks in and music starts streaming, but only the firs time.
  • If I pause the music, the notification goes away. When resuming the music, the notification comes back only very briefly and then disappears again like it should.
  • If the persistent notification bar is present, it seems to go away on its own after about 3-4 minutes.
  • If I start the truck after having just restarted the phone, autoplay does not start and any notification that comes up is only temporary once I start playing music.

Motorola G6 running Android 9 (oreo) -
  • No problem. The notification only shows up briefly like it should.

I went to "Developer Settings" and tried messing with the different Bluetooth settings, but I couldn't get it to make any difference. I'm no expert with this stuff though. I may play with it some more this weekend if I get time.

What would be different between playing music via autoplay and playing the music manually?

VERY interesting.

I tested today with my Samsung Note 10 - almost exactly the same results.

My only difference was I could go into reverse, see the Notification, go to Park or Drive then back to Reverse and it would be gone.

Haven't tested with my 'scrap' Iphone (can't find it under all this crap on my desk).

BUT, I think the details you've added to this is basically what the problem is. If so, I'm going to go out on a limb and think, the world is upgrading 'devices' to the new Bluetooth spec and there might be other systems, cars, that are having the same problem.

That's good because I'm sure someone has complained louder then us thus, there's probably a work around out there.

I've run into things like this before, things where one thing is related to another via thingy or something. MEANING, the hardest part of finding a solution or a group to discuss the problem is usually knowing how to search for it - you know, like a Google search: vehicle bluetooth notification. I don't know, that's next....

Thanks,
Patrick

That took seconds......

...alright, I'll dive in but if anyone finds the specific answer for our trucks, feel free to jump in and post it.

Damn I feel old....
