Later on when the weather warms up and the trail is clear, I would like to make an overnight trip to Blue lakes (and possibly strawberry.) Ran it south to north just before the snow fell, and it was absolutely beautiful down there!

Would any of you fellas want to go? Not sure on dates yet...

Blue lakes, like Deer Valley and Strawberry?

Ive been pitchin that idea for a couple of years now.

Yes! down past Minden.... I know you youve run that trail before Keith, seen pics of it!

Approx. what dates would work for you guys? Im pretty much open all the time as far as weekends go...

For me, Ill have to wait closer to what ever dates youre planning on going.
That is a GREAT lil weekend wheel. Camping out at the top of Strawberry is PHENOMENAL!!!!!
What we did last time, was wheel 4 through Deer Valley (i was a late show, so I met up at the 1st crossing) camped, rolled through drove over to Strawberry, camped at the top and wheeled out. BITCHIN!
My rig was still stock, so that OPENED my eyes as to what direction that I wanted to take my rig, which is why it is what it is today.

Cool!

I'm going to see what the camping regualtions are down there. Hopefully we can camp off the trail (and not be forced into designated camp grounds) in the meadows. The meadows just south of the lake would make a perfect little camp area for multiple rigs. I had some pics, but not sure where they are...

There are a couple of good areas just south of bluelakes for group camping. The main spot that I have camped before is right after/ before ( south ) of the south most big water crossing. (mouthfull)

Its pretty nice but the mosquitoes will carry you away......
And the area Chicago mentioned, going up strawberry is very nice.. I have a score to settle with the strawberry trail! and some "Floating" to do!:D:D ....... So IM in!

Calicruiser said that he was gonna take a run up and check the trail conditions sometime soon.

I'm definitely in. I talked to a friend who works for CalTrans and lives in Gardnerville ( go figure ) that has been plowing the upper 88 and hwy 4 side and reports a dwindling snow pack. He is guessing that Blue Lakes Rd. will be open by the end of the month.
