Blower resistor for LX450

So this may be what you were referring to before with having to replace the amplifier too. In addition to high which was already working, now low works too, but the two middle settings just blow same amount as the low setting. Is that what you experienced after replacing the resistor?

It's been awhile but yes that sounds right. This part is a little harder to come by but follow that part number above and you should be good. I just did a search on eBay and there are more then a few on there.

Success! All speeds are working after replacing the second part. Had to go with the LS400 version and change out the harness. Odd those two got out together. Maybe once the resistor fails, it shorts out something in the circuit board for the amplifier. Thanks for all the help.

It is weird. You're right, it must put some sort of additional stress on one part or the other. I hope the used part lasts sometime or else we'll all be out of luck. But but we'll probably find some solution when it's needed. For now it works.

So did you replace the resistor and the amplifier? My LX450 blows low on the 1st 3 settings and high and 4. I'd like to get the middle 2 speeds working.

Yes. All I had working before was high speed. I replaced the blow resistor first and that got me low speed, and the middle two settings working at low speed as well. The AC amplifier got the middle two working at appropriate speed. I’ve seen two different parts called amplifier. The one I’m talking about is Denso part number 977800-0111. But it’s hard to find. I had to buy the LS400 version used, Denso part number 977800-0072 and then you have to cut off the harness from the original part and splice it onto the LS400 version so it will connect up.

I wish that I saw this thread a few days ago. I just had my evap out for a cleaning and expansion valve replacement. It would have been so easy to change. I'll pick up an amplifier and give it a shot. Thanks

It’s not hard to get to. The resistor is the one that’s kind of a pain. Remove the glove box and you’re pretty much there.

Where did you buy the LS400 amplifier?
I got it off EBay. It’s not like there were a bunch to chose from. It may have been the only one in the US. My next step was going to be local junk yards.
