Hey all, I picked up 4 authentic Blitz metal jerry cans for cheap.

I'm currently cleaning them out and removing surface rust inside by using vinegar. It's working well. I also purchased 4 new rubber seals and 1 spout (I plan on using a super syphon and refueling without removing the cans from my roof rack)

I am going to paint the exterior of them, as the PO had painted the (originally red) jerry cans dark green, and did a terrible job of it.

I was originally thinking yellow for diesel, as that's what will be stored in them. However, maybe a slightly textured drab or "sand" colour would be better?

What's your opinion?

Not exactly what you ask for but make sure you get the correct gasket for diesel, there are different compound used for gas and diesel.
As far as color goes, whatever trips your trigger. Red is traditionally gasoline, yellow diesel, and blue water. Sand/beige works for anything.
