We made it to Como Lake and setup camp quickly so we could start fishing. Plenty of small brook trout in the lake. Here are a couple shots of the larger ones the girls caught.

Around 6pm a storm blew through so we were all eating dinner in our tents. The storm did not last long as we were soon out working on the camp fire. The evening was very nice with clear skies.

The next morning we fished and took our time packing up. We decided to head up the trail a bit further before heading down.

Here are pictures of Mike and John on Jaws 4.

The trail is in good shape. I guess after you have been on this trail a few times the pucker factor goes away. On the way down I could tell something in my drive line was coming loose. I stopped once at the top of Jaws 3 to check things out but didn't find anything wrong. I stopped again before going down Jaws 2 and found the bolts almost falling out of the transfer case cross memeber. A couple of minutes to tighten them up and away we went.

It was a blast running the 60 this summer with no doors on it but its that time of year where I think I better put the doors back on. My transission is leaking fluid very badly so I guess I get to pull it apart and install the transmission I purchased off Craigslist a month or so a go.

Good trip up Blanca. We ran into plenty of traffic coming down as we were going up. At least a dozen rigs coming down as we went up. We had Mike in the Bronco, John in the Rubicon and me in the FJ60. The rigs were getting a little hot on the way up the trail so we stopped three or four times to let them cool off. Plenty of opportunities to stop on obstacles or to check out cabins or to snack on raspberries. The raspberries were rather picked over by now but we still found a few to snack on.

Here is a picture of the girls checking out some raspberry bushes.

Your killing man! :'-(

Most write ups focus on how tough the trail is. You focus on kids, fish and raspberries, and how the pucker factor goes away after a few trips. I know that feeling. I am now more than ever looking forward to this for Friday.

Thanks!!

Vic and Jason were already at the top when we got there and they were off hiking. You can see Vic's FJ40 in a couple of my pictures. I'll let Vic post up his pictures and add his report on the trail.

We rescued this poor fella. He was wandering and mumbling incoherently. We gave him a frosty beverage and a smartphone and told him he could sleep standing up under the corner of the tarp on this abandoned vehicle.

Nice shot of Vic's FJ40 with the front tires off the ground on Jaws 4!

Vic - How did the rest of the shots of us coming down Jaws 1 turn out?

It looks like something is wrong with your camera. I appear to be short and fat with lots of gray hair when photographed with that bad camera of yours.
