Unfortunately for bj74 owners, 8k is more average than cheap these days. There's a few that have lingered on the market for a LONG time under 10k...

Still, if I were in the market for a 74, I'd probably check that one out.

EDIT....just noticed it's auto and threw up in my mouth a little bit...

8k isn't a bad price. Especially if there is no rust.
Auto though. that would be a dog to drive and would take the fun out of it.

Looks like the one that was up in chetwyn.

Yeah it's not bad, it's just not "holy crap, I gotta make a phone call, get in the car and hit the ATM" kinda cheap..

I might try the 74 thing for my next cruiser( thinking I may buy a truck that isn't a total basket case for once), but I'm a year away from that unfortunately....although, they will be cheaper then...:grinpimp:

Yeah, sorry guys, I was a little misleading when I said 'cheap'. I meant it was well priced.

Auto might not be all that bad....

Life's a bitch-- Your eyes say i want that cuz i can just get in and drive but your wallet is screaming "Basketcase"

Yes there is that, my wallet does have a set of pipes on it...

Nah, it's a decent price no worries...for mainlanders anyways...we just tend to take "cheap" to another level around here...:grinpimp:

Couldn't do auto tho...in an 80 maybe, because it's a big fat lazy couch you roll down the road in with your every whim and desire pampered like a roman in an orgy, having to use both legs to drive would be unthinkable.

70's are supposed to be utilitarian...

The values of these trucks are declining because novice buyers intially think they are cool daily drivers, but after a while they get tired of the slow acceleration, handling, tiny backseat and realize they are not practical for use as a daily driver and get rid of them because they can't afford two vehicles

All the BJ74 truck owners I know use these trucks as dedicated off-road expedition trucks and for that purpose they are awesome - when the going gets tough - the 74's are out front

Life is short - dump the old 40 and get a 74.

Drive yours 40 to Moab and back a bunch of times and let me know how you enjoyed that exhilarating experience :hillbilly:

I've driven it cross country before... (remember my adventures from a couple summers ago) ... I'm fully aware of how it is to drive across long distances. Still like it better driving with no doors enjoying the breeze :flipoff2:

Although I do have a 70 right now as well... its a bit slower then the 40 at the moment. :hillbilly:

Ya some of the guy's here are having more and more issues with insurance. I might have to cut it off...

Do you know specifically what parts I'd need to keep?

I'd rather not horde the whole thing...

Just cut the pillars beside the winshield, and then across the bottom below the pedals. That should cover everything, basically they'd want all the mounting points for master cylinders, heater fans , wiper motor etc.

So easiest to just hack the whole thing off.

Some cut out the whole panel to do the swap, others do it in smaller pieces.

But if you cut it there, it leaves a pretty easily handled chunk that leans against a wall, doesn't take too long to separate from the rest of the carcass, and leaves someone the option of doing it however they want.

Buy it. It has your name all over it. :grinpimp:

believe me, I'd be on it like a fat kid on a smartie if it was a year from now.

at that point, I'm hoping my commute is considerably different...

I don't have the energy to maintain two vehicles, and it doesn't make much sense to volunteer for 1/3 of the mileage I get now.

So it has to wait. But like everything else, they're only going to get cheaper.
