1982 BJ42 up for grabs. I purchased this truck two years ago and it has spent time as a daily driver and has also spent its fair share of time up on blocks as I have taken my time fixing several basic things. I finally went ahead and made an attempt at dealing with the rusted tub by cutting the tub and cab back to just behind the seat mounts with the intention of making it into a SWB 45 with a bob cab. I am now facing the reality that the only way forward is to purchase a new tub. Currently I am unable to afford this and don’t see myself allocating such money to a vehicle in the near future (still hoping to come across a cheap tub). I am going to make this an honest sale and am looking for $3500 for the truck in its current condition. Things that have been done: Replaced flat front springs with good condition stock springs and new u-bolts and bushings. Replaced the front drive shaft forward u-joint. Two new interstate batteries were purchased just after I purchased it. I wire wheeled most of the frame and painted black with rust paint. Replaced rear backing plates with good condition second hand ones. New rear brake shoes, springs, and brake lines. Rear frame wire wheeled and rust painted, new spring hangers bolted in, new rear shackles and bushings. The truck starts up great and runs great, no transmission issues. Front fenders, hood, doors in good shape, firewall is good shape. All the nasty body stuff is aft of the seat mounts. The frame is good other than needing new 45 degree supports in the rear and would benefit from a frame boxing kit aft of the rear tubular cross member (my intention if I was going to keep it). I will post up pictures when I get the chance. The BJ42 is over 25 years old so apparently that makes it easy to get into the US. I am located in Vancouver BC. It is not in legal shape for road use at the moment as it is missing the tub aft of the seat mounts so would need to be trucked.
