My lovely assistant helping me with the new roof liner, FYI: I used 3M spray but only bought one can, it wasn’t enough adhesive. The next day the liner was hanging down in places.
So we gently pulled it off and used a pint of LePage glue, brushed it on and installed the head liner. This is where things went sideways, the fumes reacted to the headliner and while it started off nice and smooth it quickly started to react to the glue and bubble up something terrible. I was pretty upset, having sourced this brand new headliner directly from Japan and it wasn’t cheap. We smoothed it out as best as we could and left it in the sun all day. The next morning it actually looked much better, it had returned (mostly) to its original form, it’s not perfect by any means but it looks decent. One day when I’m bored over winter I will redo the liner, but that’s after I install a turbo down the road. I’m running 33” tires and I’m worried that I’ll lose 5th gear on the highways and hills.
The body shop is closed for summer break, but come Hell or High water it will be painted and sheet metal assembled by the end of August. Thanks for reading.

I'm a big fan of 33'' tires, to me they are the right look but I did learn the hard way when I added a 4'' suspension lift ! About a week of driving to and from work the rear end locked up, had it towed then replaced the rear end and found that the leaf pack had to be shimmed for the driveline angle.
Quite a keeper you have their ! great work !

Had a bit of a scare this weekend, I assembled the windshield wiper motor and installed the linkages. When I went to put the wiper motor cover on I noticed it sat above the flat windshield frame portion. This is not the original windshield frame so I was afraid that it belonged to a ‘76-77 which had the smaller motor. A quick google search and I find that it does indeed sit above the frame and must seal against the windshield gasket. So relieved that it all fits.
I got the drivers door all done with all new felts and wiper seals, I bought a new striker assembly from Toyota because my original was pretty pounded out from rattling down dirt roads. Just need to order a new lock tumbler for both doors and the fuel door and have them keyed the same as the ignition, or pack two sets of keys. I’m having a blast putting this all together, it’s exciting to see it almost completed. Passenger door assembly is on the front burner today. Thanks for reading

Thanks Mac, I put the drive angle alignment shims in when I installed the OME suspension. She is really starting to look good, it will turn a lot of heads when she’s out and about I’m certain of that. When I towed it home from the paint shop I had a guy follow me all through town until I finally stopped and he came running over just to chat me up about it. I’ll remember to add 30 minutes to my errands so I can talk to people.

The pleasure of driving a landcruiser ! Even kids being pushed in strollers turn and look and sometimes the moms along with everyone else even if it's in poor condition but more rewarding when in great shape ! Enjoy and relish the experience you have worked so hard to accomplish !
