My BJ42 has a ignition switch with glow function. Can I replace the cylinder by a cylinder without glow function?

You could with some wring changes. The cylinder should be able to be replaced with a non-glow one. You would need to wire up a momentary (wilson) switch to glow manually.

I would ask though, there are a few sources for a new glow type cylinder and key set. Why not replace like with like?

On my truck the cylinder is from an fj40 and it still allows for turning the key backwards for glow.

I put a 42 ign switch inside it and good to go, return springs are in the switch not the cylinder.

Just doesn't say "glow" in the back position, otherwise you wouldn't know the difference.

Possible mine is worn out in some obscure way to allow this, but I don't think so. :meh:
