Hi all,
I have a 1979 Bj40 with a 13 b(non turbo) diesel engine that I am "thinking about" selling. As it pains me to put it up, I realize I have an 18month old and another kid due next month... so now might be the time to more forward. Anyway enough about me. Here is what I have(more pics to come).
1979 Bj40 from Austalian RHD it runs great. Is California Licensed and I have the title in hand. You don't have to go through smog or have to get it into CA system. Currently getting between 22-25MPG depending on how heavy my foot is.
4 speed tranny
New suspension (2 inch SOR LIFT heavy duty springs)- Kit ( included shocks, shackles, etc)
New transfer case
New Alternator
New drive shaft
dual battery set up
Primary and Secondary Fuel Filter Set up.
Front disc brake conversion
Bull bar
Rear Draw slider system in place of the Jump seats
Full Float rear end
Meat= BFG All terrain sitting on 31X10.5 in great shape.
New rear Wheel cylinders
Completely useless but cool Australian CB. they operate on a UHF instead of HF But that is an easy swap out if you want to change the deck head. The tape deck doesn't work but we have smart phones and headphones now when we drive.
I have plenty of extras too. 2 brand new birfields to that came with brake conversion. bj40 had same airfields and where in great shape so kept the new ones just in case. Also kept the old springs 3 of which are good one is broken. The old drums, shackles etc are also at the house. Plus an extra front bumper, a roof rack mounts (although a Thule roof rack is included). And Probably a lot more I am forgetting.
Here are things I have left to do.
Rear brake conversion
New Paint and undercoating- New to knock off some light surface rust. There are a few spots on the front Window frame I would like to get fixed but if I sell it then won't worry about it. If I don't sell my rig then I will paint
New seats- driver seat mount on left side is broken needs to be rewelded or just replaced.
Power steering
Lockers if I want to get serious... For a Beach cruiser it didn't need them.
I am asking $17,000. Or I would be willing to trade for a 100 series land cruiser as I need something to turn into my daily driver but can still take out to play. I don't need a fully built rig as I know I will be Mr.Dad more than MR. Fun. But if I can take the kids out on a trail, do some camping, fishing and hiking then win win. I don't need to sell other than I want to consolidate into one daily driver/ rig for the family. I am not desperate to sell but realize it might be the "Practical" thing to do. Never been practical in my life so this is a hard post. Dream would be to find a nice Troopy a 100 series is good too.
Let me know if you are interested.
