BJ-74 importation into California

Well, you can tell by the way the windshield wipers are situated that the pictured truck is a LHD. Whether it's a BJ74 or not...I'm not too sure. The lack of turbo badging and the newer looking grille seems to point towards an HZJ73 to me.
 
There were only a handful of BJ74s imported in Europe from what I gathered, special orders for racing purposes and the like... BJ73s were regularly imported though, as well as BJ71s (SWB 13BT). I think at least a couple ads you may have seen Wes are BJ73 with a retrofitted 13BT from a BJ71, advertised as BJ74s... That's my guess ;)
 
I think the Germans got the bulk of the PZJ 7*.

They are very far and few between but I have seen some. I doubt they were retrofitted since they basically looked stock.. Not done for rallying, etc. But it could be the case. I'll see if I can dig a few up...
